 hey everyone. okay my SE dosent have the BOSE system i didnt want it so i could put in a better one, one id like. Mostly stuff from my smashed other car. I had a 'teg b4 so like most hondas installing the head unit speaker componits, and everything else was like a walk in the park. Well after i got the MAX home i realized i didnt know how to take anything apart. I wanted to know what i would have to do to install my amp, if its even posible to the stock head unit. i have a 03' SE maxima, by the way. I read some where u can hook up an amp for your subs in the stock headunit somewere it dosent have the outputs or something. Well anyinfo would be great, if not im gona get a DVD player and just get it done by a pro.

i have a 97 and before i got a new headunit, i was using the stock non-bose double din factory unit. there are line out converters that you can use to convert the speaker line outs from your headunit into rca line outs. run the rcas to the back of the car under the carpeting to your amp. i don't know what sort of set up you are going for. will you be using aftermarket speakers in all locations? most audiophiles do not run rear fill speakers at all...only front stage setup. this tends to bring the sound stage up front only, where it is supposed to be. if this is the case, you can run the converted rcas from the rear channels from the headunit out to the amp and use the low pass filter on the amp to run subs. this would leave you with the fronts only for speakers. you also need to run a remote turn on lead from the head unit to the amp. this lead will tell ur amp when to turn on and off...so it's not running while the car is not on. this will drain ur battery overnight if not done properly. there's the subject of power and ground cables as well. if you are changing all of the speakers, then you will need either a 3/4/5 channel amp or 2 separate amps. the procedure is basically the same as the sub amp, except make sure to use the high pass filter for your front speakers. (usually x-overed at around 80hz). any more information you can probably find at www.caraudioforum.com there are some really well informed guys on there that will help you out. just be sure to use the search function before asking any questions, for most of the time they have already been answered by previous members.
hope this helped a little and not confused you.
good luck.
