Phoniex Yellow Ls, wanna be type r.

What if i paint my 97 ls coupe ... to Phoniex yellow and put a type r spoiler on.... would that be cool... since i'm gonna look like a type r.
tell me what cha think.

Still need a 5 lug cover. and lip kit. Them it would " LOOK " good.:sun:

i would much rather take the b18c5 and stick it in my ls.. .. i'd rather blow by a type r .. than look like one..
but yeah my ex girlfriend bought my old ls and painted it yellow..
it looked ok .. but it wasn't pheonix, and she didn't get any R parts.. but i bet it would look ok.. as long as ya put all the spoilers and lips on first and had it painted professionaly.. and i don't mean macco..

And get rid of your sunroof (*if you have one...*)

i know you can get a filler for it but it would never be as stable as a fixed roof..

Maybe he could just paint it yellow, too. :dunno:

yeah none of the R's have a sun roof.. it's compromises the frame integrity.. lol.. integrity in an integra.. gee i'm silly..

they always forget the 4-5 lug..
and the sunroof ya can't really get away from ..
i've seen people who do the outside but not the inside.. so you can tell easy.. like they forget to change the gauges..

Type R wasn't made for luxury. I don't think it has a/c either.

no ac, no leather seats, no moonroof, none of that. its not meant to be a lil comfortable drive. its meant to be driven hard an to be on the twisties.

pretty easy to catch a fake type r...front lip, rear bumper, side skirts, wing, 5-lug, interior, orange lighting behind the dash, tail lights...bunch of different things.

what is the b18c5 engine? stats and what car it's in.

If you are going to do a type R swap then IMO you should go all the way or nothing. I dislike seeing ppl who put the type R wing on and think it can pass for a type R ( not saying that this is what you are doing, but some ppl might take it that way). As far as the pheniox yellow paint as long as you have a good shop do it than it will look good, I likr yellow on integras. But all of this is im my opinon.

the color is nice but you might catch some heat from others seems like something a ricer (no offense meant) might do...I would pick another color if I was you man, just to be safe :)

It's a friends and I didn't like the color either but considering he has a C5
I felt I had nothing to say nor should others w/ out somthing more and dude you need to get rid of the altezza's befor mentioning the word rice. Nothing else is rice on it though. If you ever get to Yakota AB Japan you'll see it. He's stationed there.

and for the us, yellow on an integra just screams steal me. type r has the highst theft rating than any other vehicle

er...u aren't talkin bout nation wide are u? cuz the camry's, accords an the 99-00 si's are WAY more commonly stolen then type r's. look at the stats, an u'll see that the integra isn't even on the top 10 list...none that i've seen atleast, an certainly not for last year.

as far as production numbers the type R is the most stolen vehicle..
but the civic, accords, camry, and yes the integra were all in the top 5 last year..

I guess you could have an Integra LS sunroof installed on a Type R. Anybody think about that. As far as the lugs that is a dead giveaway.

Give me a break KrNxRaCer00. My point was that a sunroof modification seems more likely to be placed on a car than converting useless lugs. If my car did't have a sunroof or 5 lugs a rotor, I would probably go with the sunroof. :silly2:

ooooor...jus look at the seats. simple as that if u wanna get into interior...an the orange backing to the gauge cluster...an the type r floormats etc...etc...:D

instead of looking like a type r. which can be done with a lot of money why not invest more money into your engine. all i know is i laugh hard when i see integra's with type r stickers wen they aren't. i own a gsr. i took off the dohc vtec badge. so people would think its an ls or gs. sleeper look i guess. i do plan on geting the type r spoiler in by this week.

B18c5 is the Type R engine. 195HP LSD tranny and a lotta cool stuff. Basically it's a spiffed up GSR engine. Lotta little things that make it a very nice engine.

you have a better chance to get your saturn stolen if you are driving a type-r

there isnt enough type-r's to be the most stolen vehicle

Phoenix yellow is an awesome color, but don't put a Type R badge on it if it's not Type R. Be proud of the LS, it rocks! That's like people who put VTEC stickers all over their car, but don't actually have a VTEC engine. Seems a little silly....IMO.

I suggest you read the whole thread. The engine alone does not make the Type R. It's engine, suspension (gotta luv that 5 lug), interior, and exterior. Honda/Acura did'nt just say, " lets put a bad ass engine in the Teg and call it a Type R ". They did it to the full.

a/c was an optional accessory for the type-r's, at least for the 97/8 ones

my bad :eek7: :banghead:, what i actually wanted to say was if i added the engine to my gs, will everything still work? will it be almost as fast as the type r, i know it will be slower since the gs is heavier... and other things, but will it be close to the speed of the type R?

and how much do you think the engine and labor costs are?

It could be close to being as fast but just a little slower b/c of suspension and weight and LSD. The motors usually run around $4-5k. Then labor and any parts that might have not come with the engine. IMO it is not worth it, just get the B18c or do ls-vtec.

About the A/C. I believe it origonally didn't have A/C. But due to customer complaints they put it in the second year they made it.

B18C= GSR= VTEC
B18B=LS/GS/RS= No VTEC

LSVTEC= VTEC head on B18B/A block= mad hp

haha ya i dont think you should spend your money making your ride look like a type r, and spend your money so it could beat em... anyways, if you just painted your teg Phoenix yellow you could still tell that its a fake because the 97 ITRs only came in championship white and the newer ITRs came with yellow or black as an option, so the older front wouldnt go with the yellow thus making it easy to tell that your ride is a fake... add that to the interior, and the 5 lug conversion etc.... anyways, do what you want to do, its your ride and good luck!

your car is an LS... it has a b18b not a b18c... you can turn your engine into an LS-vtec by swapping the head from any b-series engine with vtec (b18c1, b18c5, b16a etc)... the head needed for conversion could cost anywhere around 1000 im guestimating give or take... anyways, do some homework and look around... shouldnt be too hard to find a new head... anyways good luck

I think you should do what you want, as long as you're happy with your car. Personally, I like spankin people with an LS non-vtec. The swap is really just a waste of time and money because you would also need to update your suspension to type r specs. You might as well save up money for an actual type r. Good luck

the b18c5 IS the type-r motor honestly about the whole paint business it doesnt matter whether you have a real type-r or not or if ur called a poser or whatever, what matters is if you can smoke your competition then they wont care if it really is a type-r or not. if a modified gs-r beat a type-r then the type-r with be on their knees to a gs-r who cares if it's really a typee-r or not or if it looks like one or is really one im getting the pheonix yellow paint on my 94 LS auto but swapped in gs-r motor(much cheaper for only 20 hp less than the type-r's and lower compression for turbo) i can use that extra grand or 2 to turbocharge or rebuild that motor and smoke the type-r's i already have a cf type-r lip on a 98-01 bumper with 98-01 headlights and amber corner lights cf hood cf spoon mirrors 98-01 rear bumper type-r spoiler i could careless what people say if its a real type-r or not bc of the sunroof or 4 -5 lug conversion. if someone talked trash about whats so gay about my car then i would shut him up after smokin his ass then he'll forget what he said to me. Anyways the JDM older type-r with the white rims are 4 lugs not 5 not every single type-r ever made has 5 lugs, look into it.
the seats in the type-r are suede seats which i think is luxurious enough compared to the vinyl seats in the gs and gs-r and cloth seats in the RS and LS

the B18c5 is the ITR(integra type R ) engine. I believe it has a 195hp and not to sure on the torque. go to msn.com and research the auto section.

the b18c5 is the ITR engine. it is a 1.8L DOHC Vtec engine. It has 195 hp i belive, and 130 lbft. 0-60 in 6.5 seconds, 1/4 in 17.57 seconds. and the type R looks hella tight!

its the USDM teg type r engine and i think its rated at 19 5

That quarter mile is ... totally off. My gsr does it in 15.3. The type R is about 14.7 I believe. That is of course in the integra type R. Put the engine in a CRX or something lighter, and you get a very fast car.
