Does it offend any of you folks that I like to punch it in my minivan and race other slow vehicles? It doesn't affect me so much if you think I'm stupid or something, I'm just curious.:D

Drifting? Bah... I got too scared of that since that time I spun out almost completely in the rain. I would put up a vid if anyone ever filmed me doing one of my out-of-a-turn-smokey-burn outs:D

Hmm, depends on your definition of slow. I think anything slower than 17s 1/4 shouldnt even try to race. Then again there are those that think anything slower than 15s (ie: my car :toothless ) shouldnt be in a race either.

damn, to me 15 seconds is GOOD!

racing slow cars means the race lasts longer and you get more fun per race right?

i don't think anyone shuld brag about how quick their car is unless they're running like 2 seconds quicker than stock. that means a civic si can brag when hes hitting 13's but a vette can't brag till he's in the 10's. i don't know if that makes any sense but that's what i think.

I believe you race what you have and enjoy it. Hell the first car I drove alot was a plymoth reliant, and it was slow as hell hehe. Race what you have and have fun while doing it. :D

i don't mind slow people racing at all. last nite a mom in her earli 90's ford taurus (not SHO) actually tried to race me. didn't down shift, jus floored it, an left her. at the next lite we both jus laughed an went our ways...racing is fun, its only bad if people THINK their car is fast when they are runnin a stock civic w/ an exhaust tip.

Okay. Slow cars.....

A Triumph Spitfire makes about 86bhp. An MG Midget, 79bhp. A Mini Cooper Mk1- 100bhp with the carbs properly synched.

Not one of these cars can make it to 60 in less than 8seconds. And the quarter mile times are a joke and a half.

But I'd rather blast through corners and dodge cones in one of these little gems than spend a day waiting to go down a 1/4mile straightaway in 9seconds.

What about a Spitfire with a 300hp Wankel?

*rolls up in conversion van* "lets do this" hands money to Hector.

I think anyone can race whatever they want, most people that race are teenagers and most teenagers can't afford a fast car and the insurance that goes with it. People shouldn't be made fun of unless they think that their slow car is actually fast. All of my friends have slow cars but they still race all the time and they know they have slow cars. I say, race whatever you want, as long as its all in fun and safety. :)

I have no problem with it, race what you have. I actually find it rather amusing.

I try people all the time with my 70hp sentra. Note here: I dont think I have ever won a single race, but it was great as long as both ppl were doing it "safely" ("street racing" and "safe" dont always go together, but thats another thread) and were having fun! :)

Then it wouldn't be slow....

DAMNIT!!!! Cbass. Are you trying to get me killed? That $500 Spitfire's still down the street and you're still tempting me. Layla'll drop her crank if I drag a Triumph home. You know MG's and Triumphs don't play well together.

Still, rotary powered Spitfire roadster.....

Heheh, that's my friends plan right now, a rotary engined Spitfire. I think it will be pretty fast :D

Of course, it will be no match for my 400ci RX7 ;) Kind of odd though, he's replacing the piston engine in a British car with a Japanese rotary engine, and I'm replacing the Japanese rotary engine in the RX7 with an American V8... :hehehe:

Now all we need is for Lil' John Buttera to show up with his Ferrari V12 powered Deuce roadster (Italian V12 for American V8), and the schizoid international swap group will be complete.

compared to a 427tt c5 all our cars are slow...

so i say anything goes. racing is fun no matter what you drive. i took out the 90 jeep with 220,000 mi on it and raced a huge conversion van. i won by about 1/2 car length! hehe.

I raced my mom's 4x4 ford ranger complete with off-road package against my friend's civic through the twisties, and won! Lol it was great, he thought his car was all bad and I beat him in a truck. Good stuff.

Racing is fun..slow or fast....true, faster is more fun, but its just like some people suck at basketball, but still enjoy playing it :p , so i say, race what you can, even if it has to be...grocery carts? :bloated: lol

Funny you mention that...me and my friend used to race golf carts on the golf course all the time.....we'd paddle at the ground with our left foot to gain extra speed on the straightaways......it was all fun and good until I ended up in a creek after failing to negotiate a hairpin.....it was quite embarassing, people were taking pictures and everything.

This reminds me of when I was a courier in Jax, FL. We had a nightly run to Orlando and I drove the company dodge ram van, with magnum 318 and 3 speed auto.

I was coming back down I-95, and a guy in a nissan 240sx wanted to race me.

We were already doing 70, so he kinda flinched, and I nailed it.

I got the van up to about 110 mpg and was about a car length ahead of the 240sx lol.

One of my first vehicles was a 93 ford ranger, with 2.3L 4 banger(slower than dirt).

I had a lot of fun in it racing. It would pull a 18+ 1/4 and top speed of about 95 mph lol.

When I got the 95 nissan after that, I left the dealership in st augustine, going over 100mph, I was like

First vehicle of mine that could actually do 100mph. lol

btw, if you want fast, get that 427 TT 1997 Sonoma that Lingenfelter made.

10's in 1/4 with an auto. I think he broke the transmission on one of the passes.
