New Motor

Well, my re ring kit just came in. So I am now starting to prep my car for it's new motor. :cool: If things go well, it should be in and running by friday.

sweet....cant wait to see what it puts out :)

They are not horrible. I have ridden on worse. But they are what came with the car. So, they will stay until I can find soem nuespeeds.

Damn, I just spent 45 minutes driving around town looking for a 12 point, 12mm, deep socket, for the ARP bolts. :mad: :D

Sears is an hour away.

I ended up getting a blackhawk socket. They are pretty much the same quality as craftsman.

Overall, things are coming along pretty good. I just finished the cylinder head, put on the timing belt.

Also, all four corners will have new shocks. I ordered KYB AGX's, and they should be here Monday. So, with those, my new motor, 75% new urethane bushings. I should be set. :cool: Now I just need to get a exhaust.

I totally agree......that motor is a thing of beauty....I hope my new one is that shiny when I finally have the money to get it and put it in.

He probably spent alot! I know that bullfrog quoted me $1350 for my Dohc ZC, that was for the full shebang! I would say the head prolly cost about $800 the inernals depending on how far he went cost between $750 and $1000... I see a nice new header that'le be $300ish depending on header but that one looked nice. Then there is the cam gear prolly $150ish? I dont remember how much those cost... So generaly speaking he spent about $2000 on it... How close am I Kris?

The stock HP for those engines is 114-118 In there somewere. How much will he get out of the old A6? Well ltes see... I see nice new header so he isnt probably planing on turbo so lets asume he put in some BURLY ass endyne 12 0:1 pistons and eagle rods (Prolly) hrm... At 9K RPM he will make about 180-190 at the fly... With EXCELENT tuning.

arghhh... more problems. I am trying to bolt up my cat, and the new header is about 3" shorter than my old one, so they wont bolt up. :mad:

But, I have my oil pressure gauge all wired up. Now its time to put the axles in, add fluid, and start the bitch up. (hopefully)

Look man, here is what you do, its realy easy. You go to the local auto parts store and tlee them you need a half foot of flexable exaust tubing and two exaust clamps. Then you cut the exaust put in the flexable tubing OVER the old piping and clamp it down. This is what i did on my car and it works great! ;) PS, take the front half of the exaust with you to the shop so they can find the right size tube...
