Droppin it!!

I got a 98' GS and just put 2 and 1/2 inch drop springs on it made by Sprint..Its been about a month or two now...Looks real good.Everything is going well execpt I have a vibration in the floor board and in the pedals when i am between 20-30mph. The springs were put on correctly so there should be nothing wrong. What is that vibration? What could the problem be? If any1 know could the please respond..Thx alot

What shocks do you guys have, and are you using camber kits?

I don't have any kind of camber kit. Just the springs. Is that my problem?

If you have springs that lower the car 2.5" or even just 2" than it's highly reccommended that you get a camber kit. I'm not positive on the side effects of extreme negative camber. But I imagine that if a tire is designed to ride on no more than a 0.5 degree of camber and its sitting a 1 to 1.5 degrees, it probably won't perform as well. Meaning it'll be noisier and probably suffer from more vibration. Also, just as another thought, make sure you get an alignment after a change in the suspension. Any adjusting of ride height requires an alignment. If you didn't get one that could be the problem as well.

I would really suggest a camber kit otherwise you will chew through tires like no other.

Again I put springs on..you only use camber kits for coil-over kits..becuz coil-over kits have an extreme drop compare to springs..u can have ur body sitting on the ground with coil-overs..The way to tell if u need camber kits if ur wheels are bent in or out..camber kit straightens them out..plus if u notice that you only wear out part of the tire instead of the whole thing..I got an alignment so that can't be it and i am positive i don't need a camber kit...I have grow up in a garage and I know a good amount..but this vibration is just got me confused..I think I know what it is but not sure thats why I am asking every1 for there input..Aves911 I thank you for ur input but that can't be it..what else could it be..?????

1. Get a camber kit. Your running like -1.5 degrees of camber and just flushing tire wear down the drain. Not to metion youll have less traction for lauching. Your comment on coilovers made no sense, 2 1/2 is more than most poeple even run on coilovers.

2. Youll need to get new shocks. stock ones arent made to be used that low in their range. They can only handle about an 1.5 inch drop.That is probably causing your problem as you shocks are probably already blown. Get some Tokico's to solve that.

u don't need a camber kit for springs? since when? so if i cut some springs an drop my car to the ground, then its still ok because its springs? don't think so. anything over 1.75 inches, ur gonna have negative camber. get a camber kit, save some money on tires, an quit actin like u kno everything about cars.

Actually any modifications to the existing suspension can create camber woes. Even with a .5" drop, you've altered your existing scrub line & angle degrees. Has anyone seen a lowrider driving down the road w/ their tires "praying" i.e. / \ That is negative camber. It won't be as visible to the naked eye, but I guaran-damn-tee that if you were to go to an alignment shop, you'll see it's out of whack.

I got another question...the vibration is just in the front so would that mean i still need a camber kit....?

it mite not be the source of the noise (it prolly isn't in fact), but u still do need a camber kit. u are going to notice uneven tire wear, an it gets pretty dangerous especially w/ low-performance tires which are small enough as is. u can get a generic, no-name which will correct the problem for around $120-150

Some1 told me that i have stock camber kit on the car..and if i took it to an alignment shop that they could fix it...and they also told me that i would only have to buy an camber kit for an extreme drop..i guess a big drop than what i got..i notice there is no extreme wear on my tires..so feed me some info

Rear negative camber can be fixed by shim'n the upper A arm braces from the frame. I did mine just a few weeks ago with hardware (longer bolts & washers) from PepBoys. As for the front, I'd buy a kit from somewhere, I got a set of Eibach replacement bushing offset ones yet still need to find someone to install them. :(

CAMBER WOES SUCK! but lowered cars look so slick ;)

Lowering your car should not be a hard experience at all.
1. Get a quality spring
2. Get a quality shock
3. Get a camber kit (even if you only drop one inch)
4. Go get a four wheel alignment right after you install your springs and shocks

After that your all set ;) .
