Well, it`s finally finished. I built it completely box stock from the Monogram kit, except for the wheels from the Camaro kit. I`ll post more info and details tonight. Let me know what you think. I hope it is ok that I started this thread, but I thought if I posted them in the progress thead, people might ignore it.

That is an awsome paint job, I especially like the black on the hood cause it doen't standout yet it points directly to the deep shine. If I may ask, what type of paint did you use on this one and how did you achieve such a shine. I a have trouble getting my spray paints to come out without having  stupid dip marks left and it never shines like that.

Thanks everyone for all the kind words!!
This is a really great kit, with several drawbacks. First, some parts were warped from age. This is an older kit, probably from the 80`s. Secondly, fitting the chassis underneath the body is a tight, and I mean tight, fit which forces you to really bend the body. I was worried about the paint cracking while bending it.
Overall, it was a very rewarding build. The proportions are right, there is excellent detail including ignition wires and heater hoses, and the interior is excellent.

I do have another yellow one that`s painted. I am taking a break for a little while before going into my next project. This one, as has been the case for every project over the past year, has been stressful. Though this one is particularly rewarding.
I am developing ideas for my next project. Yes it will be a v-8, and yes it will be American. :) Sorry guys. But it wont be a classic, and will be relatively new. There will also be some moderate modifications to it.
Then, I will tackle the 350Z from the contest, once I figure out how I am going to do it.
If I may ask, what type of paint did you use on this one and how did you achieve such a shine.
All Duplicolor laquers were used. I applied the color coats, about 10 or so, and then applied 6 or 7 clear coats. I wetsanded, and applied 5-7 more clear coats. I let it dry for a couple weeks, and then I wetsanded again with 2000 grit, and rubbed out with 3M fine cut compound, followed by tamiya compound. The compound is what really gives it it`s smoothness and shine. Use it until you cant see even fine scratches. I then used about 3 coats of Zaino, which really makes it reflective and gives it a "glass" look.

 Now I can see why it took so long and why it is so shiny. I would never have the patience to do that. You are quite a dedicated modeler. :D

I love it Hawk! I really do that thing looks awesome! The shape is perfect and the color suits it very well, it isn't Marlboro red ( ) but its just as good! I can't wait for the yellow one, give us some engine shots of them both too. We are missing out on the important bit ;)!

This is really getting to be a very familiar process! ;) Question: Do you use less coats on 1/24 models, because you might lose detail? How long do you wait in between coats? Thanks!

I can't wait for the yellow one, give us some engine shots of them both too.
I`m not sure when I will build the Yellow one. I needed to take a break after the red one, and have already started on a new project.
We just got two and a half feet of snow here, so it might be a while til I post any pictures again! I can`t wait til spring. :(
This is really getting to be a very familiar process! Question: Do you use less coats on 1/24 models, because you might lose detail?
I could probably get away with just as many coats on certain models in 1/24 scale. This stuff goes on really, really thin. Almost too thin.
How long do you wait in between coats?
Usually, for the first few coats, I can get away with less then 10 minutes between each coat. After that, I usually wait about 20 minutes or so. It is really great stuff!
