Hello I am very new to this so please bare with me! My wife just bought the 2002 Lancer. I thought it would be a good idea to replace the stock headlights with the "Sylvannia Silverstars" The same day we went to the dealer to get the car serviced(11,000 check up) The mechanic said he would not put those light bulbs on the car because they will melt the wiring harness and would void the warranty. My question is really can this happen? Can this happen with the Sylvannia silverstars? IS there a headlight replacement bulb that is better, where this would not happen? What is the best bulb outhere? Anyone's help on this matter is greatly appreciated! Thank You

it's highly unlikely with your new car that you would melt the harness.

i've seen it happen, but it's not very likely...

the sylvania's won't fry your harness, as they're not pulling near as much power as they say they are...

most aftermarket bulbs say they are putting out a higher wattage, when in reality they are putting out the same wattage but with the appearance of a higher wattage bulb. you'll be fine.

Ok I just read your post and want to thank you for the info! I have some other questions, you said you seen it happen, what happens? Did that happen to 2002 lancer? Are the Sylvannia silverstars good light bulbs? Thanks
