check your ecu to see if it is throwing any codes

just because fuel pump is working, doesnt mean fuel is getting into the combustion chamber. maybe clogged fuel line, or clogged fuel filter or injectors

how can i check for clogged fuel lines or injectors?

whats up?..its your distributer, thats what happened to me like twice already..i just got my car out the shop saturday...IM telling its your distibuter. U need a new 1 or get the 1 that u have rebuild

I heard once that a way to see if your injectors are working properly is to do as follows: Turn your car on. Take a flat head screwdriver and put it on the injector(anywhere on it) Put your ear on the handle of it and listen to see if you can hear them spraying or not.
Ive never tried this but I figured you may want to give it a try.

If you can give me more symptoms on the problem i could troubleshoot it for you. Is it turning over..Is it clicking..Is your fusebox getting power..Is the rotor inside the distributer still good..

I'm taking this stuff in school right now so i might be able to help you out.

Yes it is turning over, and has power. fuel pump works and has spark. Just got a re-build dizzy not too long ago.

check compression. it takes three things for the engine to run, fuel, spark, compression.

it takes air too...

but you should check your timing too... the belt could have jumped a few teeth causing you grief...

I checked the timing belt. It is still in timing and in good shape. I also checked the main relay and that works fine. What else could be the problem?

hmm, i had a similar problem and the main relay was the problem. How did you check your main relay switch?

the compression is the air. As the piston moves up, it compress the air, which is kinda hard to block and gas for combustion.

I checked the compression, its about 160 on all cylenders. So it has spark, compression, fuel pump works and main relay is fine. The timing belt looks good, doesnt seem to have jumped any teeth. I dont know what else to check.

anything?

There is gas in the tank right?

90civichatch

Yes, I have gas. I filled it up the night before it broke down. I had half tank when it died.

Now i am not just asking questions to make anybody feel stupid, but is that what the gauge says or is that what the tank sounds like?

Did you do a wet compression test or a Dry compression test ?
Turbo Civic is right. it takes Fuel, Spark, and Compression for a engine to run.

The night before it broke down did it idel high, anywhere between 1200-2000rpm ? if so you could of had a vacume leak, or blew off a vacume line.

You should try and find someone with a Scanner. (thing that hooks to your ECU and gives you full readouts on all elecrical / mechanical system in the car.)
That will point out exactly where the problem is

You can't hookup a scan tool to cars with theire original ecu. Only odb II ecus

I did a dry compression test.

My car was running perfectly before it broke down. I drove it 2 hours before and it was fine, nothing abnormal. The second time, it started fine, and even climbed out of the snow. I drove up the road, stoped at a stop sign, then went. 1st gear was fine then 2nd; before I shifted 3rd the motor died, and would not start again.

Since it is a DX I have no tach so I'm not sure of any changes in RPMs, but it sounded and ran fine, up unitl it broke down.

My CRX has been having starting issues lately (it's being repaired right now), and the mechanic said it had a bad oxygen sensor. The car would start strong and catch and immediately die after the starter was disengaged. Might be work checking out.

My car does'nt start at all. It turns over but never starts. Sometimes when I am trying to start it, it makes a "popping" sound coming from under the hood.

-What do you guys think?-
