Hi, i'm Henry... I'm really curious how can i hook up my 2001 Honda Accord EX V6 to have more power? I know i can't really do anything to it because its a sedan and its a automatic. But , can someone tell me some little stuff that i can do to get that extra hp. Thanks.

The aftermarket support for 6thgen Accords is not that extensive, but you can try and find CAI, Exhaust. Maybe some pulleys. That's what I can think of right about now.

Cold Air Intake is used to get cooler air and more of it to the engine.
As for pulleys, they don't really create more hp per se, just makes the current set up in your car move faster.

Can i get a CAI without the exhaust? Would that make a difference on hp or i would have to get both to get a change? For pullies, what brand do you reconmend?

For the CAI and pulleys, I say go with AEM. As for which is which, I'm like this, If I'm going to do one thing, I would compliment it with anything else that goes with it. You could just do the intake and feel something. I just recommend doing both. But one or the other is fine.

Depending on where you live, there are a lot of places in queens that do some good work. In particular, SpeedWorld on Queens Blvd. They are one of the top ones. Some other ones are in Long Island and Long Island City(borders with Queens).
Later.
Later.

I would be carefull with the COI, AEM has great products and yes i suggest a Short Ram Intake from them go to INLINEFOUR.com for a great price,, but with the COI you have to watch rain, they do have a black filter piece that goes inline but im not taking my chances of screwing up my engine because of water. You will get more HP from the COI 1 - 3 more HP but is it worth deciding if its raining too hard outside to drive your car.. Exhaust is the next best thing Try a GREEDY EVO or if your like me and like to save money APEXI has a great product nice deep tone not too loud perfect model 104 KH12 i believe and its only like around 600.00 shipped from Groupbuys.com This is the dual option i am refering to..
Hope i helped''

Hey unkljon, you mean i shouldn't get the cold air intake? You mean if water goes in it will mess it up? What do you suggest? What is the short Ram intake? What is the difference between the Short Ram intake and the AEM CAI??? Please reply... Thanks..

Hold on there. What he is saying is true but can be easily fixed with getting an air bypass valve. That is what he is talking about. When water get's into the engine, you get hydrolock. But unless you plan on submerging your car in big pools or water, which I doubt, you won't have to worry about it. But it is also safe to invest in something that will prevent it from happening. In the case of your application, Short Ram is almost that same thing as CAI except that instead of pulling the cold air from the front of the car, it pulls the hot air from inside the engine bay. The tunnel that the air has to travel to get to the intake manifold is shorter, hence then name, Short Ram Intake. The main differences between the two are the sound produced, CAI makes a better deeper sound, and the horsepower. CAI produces more but I'm not sure the exact figures.

Do the exhaust if you're going to go through all that. If not, your next step would be suspension. You're gonna want the car to handle it's newfound power better. Recommendations: Shop around. Get coilovers or whatever your car can handle. Do a search in the off topic forum under "Check out these Websites". That thread has tons of websites that you can check to see for parts etc.
Side note: Remember when installing performance upgrades to your car, in this case CAI, to reset your ECU. And just in case, to reset your ECU, disconnect the negative cable to the battery of the car for 5 mins. Then connect it back and start the car. Do not press the accelerator when turning it on. Leave it running idle for about 5 mins and you should be good.

I think the prices for the CAI and Pullies won't flux up or down that much anyways... One last question Do you think i should get the parts in the store(which is couple dollars more) or should i get it online(little less)???

I would get it online and have the store install it for me. The few dollars that you save could help to purchase other minor things.

For automatics, torque converter is what helps your transmission go through all the changes in order for you to move. Basically, and just speaking in general(not specific), it creates the pressure needed for the transmission to shift from one gear to the next.

Don't have any prices for you. Just go onto a site and research. You should be able to find it quickly. I don't know too much on torque converters to offer any advice to you. Sorry.

Hey i heard some rumor about the AEM CAI... Can someone please explain? I heard if you install a cai in a automatic transmission car it will lose power, like when you drive it in local streets... but if you drive it in highways which will give you power... ex. if drive in low rpm cai will not kick in, but you lose power than oem intake system... in order to kick in the cai you have to drive in high rpm... I don't know if this is true... please reply... Thanks...

I've never heard of that rumor and of a car stalling for that matter. Probably whoever told you that, didn't take the necessary steps to properly set up the car to the new feature. Like what I told you about resetting the ECU before operating the vehicle. I wouldn't worry about stalling if you do it right.

To be honest, since your car is automatic, I don't believe you would be using them to their potential. It would be more suited to a manual car. But this is just my opinion, don't know for fact that this is the case.
