Hey all, finished another one now....turning into the regular production line over here.....
I am sure a lot of you will be familiar with the classic form of the Lancia Stratos rally car, and for those of you that aren't, it was just plain dominant!! Lancia won 3 consecutive manufacturers titles with this car and they got them pretty convincingly too!
Oh well, enough propoganda for the Stratos, enjoy the pics:)

Phe-nom-in-al Ray, you are becoming quite the WRC production machine! Beautiful car and replica.
The decal up on the front louvered panel - looks like you cut it into dozens of little pieces? Any tips to impart?

Is this the Hasegawa kit? Did you use the Hasegawa PE set?
Excellent work, one of my alltime favorites! The lines on that car are just beautiful! Proof you don't have to be low and sleek to go fast.

Thanks guys:)
Phil....the trick with the decals on the front over the louvre is to apply it flat and to get it to snuggle into each vent, then once it has dried to carefully slit the decal over each vent and then use some MicroSol to get the decal to conform over the entire louvred section - you will want the new Xacto blade to slit the decal;)
Dan, it is the Hasegawa kit but I couldn't find the P/E set anywhere, I checked hlj and hobby search and they are both sold out:(
I have the same problem with the Lancia 037 P/E set.
Thanks everyone for the feedback, it is appreciated.

Hey Ray, If you are after PE for the 037, go to Rainbow 10 and get the M&A etched set. Better than the Hasegawa or S27 ones. Renaissance also makes a detail set, haven't got that yet.

Strange way with words...
The Lancia Stratus was a Group 4 car, which pre-dated the Group B formula. In it's heyday it did tend to win a lot - including the Manufacturers Chapionship in '74, '75 and '76 that Ray mentioned. Also Sandro Munari won the first Drivers Cup in 1977 in the above car.

Oh, sorry, some of the people in california talk like that when they just beat a car.. " I just raped a civc wiht my supra" / " I just raped a firebird with my mustang" etc...
Anyway, back to the model. My dad has a cutaway poster of that car, every time I look at it, it get's more interesting. Did the model have an engine and full suspension?

Beutiful job Ray. Did you have any big problems building it? I thought you or somebody said something about getting the body onto the chassis.

And the Monte Carlo was won 3 consecutive years in a Lancia Stratos between 1975 and 1977......
Lancia ownz Peugeot......lol
Thanks for the tip on the P/E Phil, I will look into it:)
935k3, getting the body onto the chassis was the most difficult part of the whole model!! After that, I had no desire to build any other variants on this car.....there is some serious flexing of the body sides to get them onto the chassis as there is about a 1/8" overlap on either side of the chassis inside the body.
Another weird thing, the dash glues inside the body, not on the chassis!
Thanks for the compliments:)

No problem, just that that word has other connotations... In fact Lancia did anything but rape the series - they were he backbone of World Rallying for many years. Helping build it up into what we have today, even if they sadly no longer compete.

:right: Lancia have never beaten Peugeot to a Rally Championship - in fact neither has anybody else! :D Would be nice if Lancia came out to play and had a go at the Pugs!

An all time favourite for the Rally lovers, and I’m no excerption.
You’ve done a brilliant work Ray. The decals are so well placed that is easy to forget the hard it is to get them right. Well done. :)

Thanks for the compliments everyone, they are appreciated:)
Guido, I am actually trying to build cars that are representative of the development of rally racing over the year.....Lancia just happen to have had a major influence in the development.
Warren, actually, the markings were a lot easier than you would expect:)

Another fine piece Ray.
I love this car, it was a real animal, the drivers really had to fight to keep these from leaving the road. I wish i was around to see them.
