I think that New Mini is good cars. I like Mini design and characteristics. Mini Cooper is very good car. But i dont like Beatle design.
If to me have offered to choose between the Bug and Mini pass I precisely would buy last. And you?

I think I would side with you on this one and go with the Mini. I'm not to keen on the design of the beetle.

I think I would take the mini too, it actually has a little bit of a race heritage, looks (a little) better than the beetle, and is made by BMW

Most definately the Mini. The Bug looks like it was beat with the ugly stick.http://www.plauder-smilies.de/rough/twak.gif

Nah Beetle Turbo Sports is a lot better than Mini Cooper. 180hp 1.8T engine and a lot of tuneability. If you are talking about Mini Cooper S than I would pick the Chrysler engine powered supercharged mini.

I wouldnt buy either theyre both overpriced slo novelty cars.

If I had to choose Id pick the Mini. The beetle aint nothing but an unpractical version of a golf. Take it everybody has seent eh depth of the dashboard in a beetle. How ugly is that

I cant fit in a Mini and the Beetle is a pretty lame looking car, but I would rather have it then the mini.

yeah, mini for me, look at the pic, it might be a small little "novelty" car, but at least they tried to give it some pleasing asthetics (wheras the beetle looks like an up-side-down bathtub with wheel wells:rolleyes: ) The only thing that looks kinda poor on the mini's is the side mirrors.

1. RWD
2. AWD
3. FWD
4. Motorbike (not scooter)
5. Bicycle
6. Skateboard
7. Walking

I like Minis. :)

The old Minis, even being FWD, were some of the best handling cars EVER. I'd like to go see how well BMW has fared at this...

Well I like the way they look, the engineering and thier quality of build. HOWEVER the 1.4, 1.6, N/A 1.8 and 2.0 engines are gutless as hell, the reliability is slipping and they are seriously overwieght.

However the 1.8 Turbo, V5, 1.9 TDi and VR6 are still good cars.

They still need to look at what made the Mk2 Golf GTi such a good car (Hell even my Mk 2 Jetta is a better drive than a Mk 4)

Its too bad the mini is waaaay overpriced. You're paying about 20k (after dealer padding) for a car that is half the size of an accord and half the engine (115 hp).

Yeah, BUT, despite a silky V6 and auto-tranny, the Accords driving experience is as dull as dish-water, unlike the MINI's, which is apparantley a stonking good drive and half the engine??? Who gives, the Cooper S well makes up for that one and does size REALLY matter?

OK, they are getting fat, which i dont like, but VW is giving the public what they seem to want because GOlfs are sellling in bigger numbers than ever... The GTi's arent the drivers cars they used to be, but then again neither are their competitors' hot hatches etc... its a shame hatches are growing vertically as well as horizontally... IMO the Civic Type R looks like a mini-MPV on steroids... not pretty at all, but its the way cars are going now

But the GTi in the UK is just a specification level isn't it??? Before teh Mk4 GTi was replaced by the V5 the NZ-spec had a 1.8 Turbo motor, ie. The real deal. But despite the 1.8T being a good drive the base models are lacking compared to thier Mk 2 counterparts (as said)

Although the Civic Type R (Which sadly we do not get here) is supposed to be a good driver despite it's butt-ugliness am I right? I know the performance is top-notch, but I think the fact that it is so tall, might just hamper the experience..........

What about the new Focus ST range? what are they like?

crayzayjay

I think the base "Gt" in the UK is actually a diesel, it outperforms the lesser 125bhp GTi. Youre right, the lesser models arent great to drive if youre into your thrills, but VW have clearly moved away from that now. The best Golf is probably the V5 170bhp.

The Civic is supposed to be a great drive but the tallness of the thing does of course hamper the experience to some extent (how much better would it have been if it was a regular size old-stylee hatch.

As for the Focus ST170, its supposed to be very good to drive but the chassis could handle even more power, which is sometimes disappointing that they just didnt give it this power. When's the RS coming out?
