Anyone suggest a good (brand/style) canister style muffler to put on a CRX with a custom 2.25 catback job
also, has anyone had the muffler coming out the drivers side straight back?
is there room at all for this, is it possible?

thnx

routing the muffler out the drivers side is a better idea than the stock setup. it gets rid of the 90 degree angles in the exhaust piping. The reason more people dont do this is because the bumper cutout is on the passenger side and a car would look pretty silly with a muffler coming out the opposite side of the cutout.

think you got drivers and passengers mixed up
cutout is on drivers side

ahh i see my mistake.

routing the piping straight out the drivers side is possible, but very hard. when i had my exhaust ran, the muffler guys told me it wouldn't be a good idea to run the exhaust on the drivers side because 1. it would be very very close to the gas tank, almost touching; and 2.it would probably hit on the lower control arm when the car hit a bump, causing the pipe to crush. what i meant to say was taht the best exhaust for performance would be to run it straight out the passenger side because there would be no 90 degree bends..

sorry for the misunderstanding.

no prob, i kinda understood what you meant in ur first post, lol
but yah, it would look kinda retarded with the muffler on one side and a cutout on the other, unless i get a bodyship to perhaps fill it?
anywho, i was just askin if its possible out the drivers cause im not a huge fan of angled mufflers

heres a pic of my exhuast, mine comes out the passenger side. my exhaust is from ractive, just the muffler and tip. the previous owner did this and he just cut a new hole in the bumper, he actually did a good job and i think i'm gonna fiberglass over the original hole so it doesnt look weird.

there's someone on this board that cut all the way straight across to the passenger side from the original cut out, it looked good.

ive heard that if make a straight pipe coming out from the passenger side u will lose power, or compression...

I dont believe that is true at all. less backpressure more or less = more horsepower. since a pipe coming out of the passenger side would be a straight pipe, ie no restrictive bends, you would get more power.

Maybe you are thinking of the fact that a free-er flowing exhaust seems like you lose torque at low rpms, which in fact you do not lose the torque it just moves up in the powerband like the horsepower does.
