door handles, side moldings, paint?

Ok, I have an 89 civic sedan, and I was wondering how or if you can paint the door handles and the sid moldings. :confused: They are black, but the car is white and is going to be painted again. Can you paint the mirrors too? I don't like having different colors on the outside. OR would an 89 sedan look alright without them painted?? The car is goint to be painted white with a red pearl clearcoat. I hope that it turns out alright. Any help or opinions would be appreciated,

Yes, you can paint all of those things, and I would if I were you. I think it looks much better with everything painted, I say go for it. It's also easier for the painters to paint that stuff because they won't have to tape off the handles and moldings. :)

depending on how many coats of pearl you car will look white with a pink tint to it.

Thanks for the input. Should I just sand the mirrors, handles, and side moldings in order to paint them?? What I am worried about is how well the paint will stick to those surfaces. And about the pink tint, do you think it will look too pink or will it be more red? and how many coats should i have put on? thanks again

yes you should definatly sand them w/ probably 400 grit/ prime it then sand with 600-800 then paint. you could also put some promoter on the things before puttin primer on it. and about the pearl it all depends on how dramatic of a effect you want . less for less effect and more for more.

In answer to kicker1_solo: Yes. Two summers ago, my boyfriend and I painted my car white. WE painted the door jams, under the hood, and in the trunk too. It looked much better than the nasty old beige color that it was. But we used single stage paint (no clearcoat) and the paint chips off cause of the stones and stuff. This summer, we are going to do a better job and paint everything and add a nice red pearl clearcoat. question: is there a way that you can keep the spray from getting into the door jams?? or without it looking bad? I think that someone said that you have to blemd it or something.

O ok. I wasn't sure because i thought that that was a good idea but i wasn't sure about the line that you might be able to see. I guess that after the paint is dry you could take REALLY fine sandpaper and maybe sand the line where the tape was down so that it blends. I understand now. lol Thanks a lot. I really needed some help.
