is Kicker amp better than Pyramid?

I currently have a Pyramid that is about 400watt.... and was thinking if it is worth it to change to a Kicker 300-400 watt amp.... Will it make my bass more clear or is it not worth the dough... i want to thump a jl w6... and want clear base...... any help woulud be great thanks.

that pyramid amp is probably like a 40 watt/ch RMS amp. With todays subs, you need a LOT more power than that to get them thumping.

yeah kicker will deffinately have a better sound with less distortion....you might try alpine too.....i have an mrv707 that i used to push a W6 for a while and it did a damn good job......

the way i see it, you are comparing kicker to pyramid is just like comparing a 10-speed mountain bike to a vette.
kicker puts out the power is says it does
pyramid prolly only puts out 15 percent of the power it says
if u got the kicker amp it would sound hella good compared
to havin the pyramid. it would be getting the power it craves
insted of starving for it.

So whats a good amp for my JL w6.. 12 incher...??? besides Kicker which i know is good. What else is out there?

they're low end crap and that new amp (even though I'm not a huge fan of kicker either) will DEFINETLY give you a crisper, harder hit.

sorry, not talking trash on your current amp, but I have had some problems with Lanzar (one of the sub divisions of Pyramid). They suck. Don't let them scam you like they scammed me.

the problem with a company like pyramid is that they sacrifice dependability and performance for price.

Lanzar isnt as bad a pyramid.if i had a choice between them both id take lanzar.There built way better.If you ever get the chance to open up a decent amp like a kicker or alpine or anything with a good reputation and a crap brand like pyramid,legacy,pyle or boss you'll notice the difference as soon as you see the inside.A friend of mine had a pyle millenium or whatever 1000 watt amp and his dad opened it(electronics genius) and said he could build a better amp than that outta his garage.

Id take Lanzar over Pyramid, its only a few more dollars but the differance should almost be night and day.

What about DHD PowerCruiser? And Targa? Are they as crap as Pyramid?
