How much is it to paint the whole car? And do you have to report to DMV? I live in the Southern Cali Area ... and my car is a Integra 97.... so any help would be great thanks.

what happen if a cop scan your license plate number and it says Gray car integra 2 door blah blah.... but you are rolling in a Hyper Yellow integra instead... wouldn't it be a problem?

I've never had a problem with it. One of my cars used to be white and I got it painted blue with blue flames and got pulled over a couple weeks later and he didn't even ask about it.

Well if they do ask about it just tell them that you just recently got it painted.

Me too:D
Going price here is around $1300 for an integra with little body work, That includes the door jams and under the hood, but not the firewall, and the inside of the trunk or hatch.

do u think it would look right to paint a black hood on a red car? becuase they dont make any carbon fiber hoods for my year.

that sucks they don't make any carbon hood for ya. I saw someone paint there hood and it doesn't look right... they didn't paint all the corners.

I say don't do it, painting it black would look gay I think. If you're going for that whole look and since they don't make CF hoods for the 4th gen sedans then I would go get some of that CF decal stuff and cover the hood with that. I think that would look a lot better than black.

Okay, guess that answers my question of how much does a paint job cost. 2 G's. How can you tell if you're going to get a quality job? Is there a specific method to doing it right, or a certain kind or brand of paint? I'd like to get something that won't chip and will last 5 years or more. Is there anything you can do to make it cheaper, like prep work or something? Does it matter if the whole car is in one piece or not?

No matter how good of a painter you are if you scimp on the prep the paint job will look like a$$. I prefer PPG, U-TECH & Lesonal paint for base, and Southern Polyurethanes Clear coat reduced just a small amount to make it lay flat ( reduce texture). Where do you live? If close I can hook you up for less than 2g's I am sure!:D

PPG and Dupont are very good paints, if you want nice candy paint or really bright custom colors use House of Kolor :D. The only real way to tell if you getting a good paint job is to see the work they do and I don't mean to look at a fresh paint job. Anyone who knows how to paint can make a paint job look nice but the prep work before then makes it last. I've been custom painting cars for 12 years now and I can tell you one thing good paint jobs arn't cheap, 1,500 to 2,000 for a color change is the norm for a reputable shop. Any less than that and they have to be cutting corners or they don't like getting paid for there time or the works gonna really suck one of the three. If you stay with the same color a good paint job shouldn't be more than 1,500, anyway good luck :bandit:
