2001 Maxima Headlight Upgrade
Nightwatch

I am wanting to upgrade my headlights and taillights on my 2001 SE.
I found the chrome taillights I like Chrome Taillights (http://www.courtesyparts.com/Merchant2/graphics/00000001/2002_Maxima_tail-lamps_big.jpg).
I am looking for a nice replacement for my headlights now but there is a big difference in some of the pricing...
$137 Each (http://www.nissanautobodypartstore.com/cgi-bin/auto-body-parts/NIMAXIMA3151137LAS20101.html)
$1200 for the pair (http://www.courtesyparts.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=CP&Product_Code=2002HID-PAIR)
I am looking for a little advice on this.
Thanks...

well, as far as the headlights go, the $137 per are simply replacement headlights, and will only add the smoked headlight look. the others are xenon HID headlights, and will make your max look positively bad ass, and sporty/expensive as well. if you can afford it, go for the HID's, for sure

The $137/ea will give it a smoked look? Do you know of any pictures with these installed.
$1200 upgrade for headlights seems to high of a price for me. I wish I did have the money, but...
Also, I know I can get HID bulb replacements. Would you recommend the colored (blue, green) or just go with the white?

Yes but they are a true HID system not just a drop in bulb replacement, so make sure that you are running the wiring harness built for this system otherwise you will burn out your headlight wiring system and it will cost you $$$ to replace them.
Other than that good choice the same system for the 2k2/2k3, get the grill and no one will know that you're only sporting a 2k1 until they race you.

He also needs to get the Side Sill Spoilers ;) Unless he's going with an aftermarket bodykit.

Well, I figured that I will stay with the stock headlights for now but I will be upgrading the taillights to the chrome.
Anyone else have a suggestion on where to get the taillights?
Also, I heard that if I just buy the HID light bulbs that I will lose my high beams. Is this true?
I found a kit on ebay that advertises a set of bulbs for both high and low beam and another set for the fog lights for about $34.
eBay Auction (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2402874337&category=6777)
Also, I want to replace the dash trim with the brushed aluminum. Where is a good place to find this and is this a real pain to install?
One last thing, the light up door jam plates. Where's a good place to find and do they look good installed?

hi there,
HID's are nice and bright, if you get the 2k2 headlights you would need to cut your existing wires to match up with the new headlights and get connectors from the deal. its a easy job if you know so electrical work. I would love to get that headlight but i live in nyc, if i get the HIDs it would be gone in a week....

Nightwatch - I'm working on a GD with the people here for a set of HID's for your max. In the mean time if you want a set 4000k & up for $300, bi-xeon $400 let me know. PM or email me [email protected], that goes for anyone else as well.

The only possible way you could sell true HID's at that price is if you stole them or obtained them illegally some other way. And considering HID theft on Maxima's is a huge issue, I'm thinking that's probably what happened.
Besides, this thread is 18 months old.

Oh really? Okay, well not only will I give you (per request) the owner's name, number, email, and website information who is backing me with this GD, but i'll also provide my own personal/business information in order to varify that this is legitamite and that it's being done LEGALLY. This GD will be exclusive to Maxima's, but of course available to anyone else who want's them as well. I don't like being called, or even suspected for a theif. I know the HID theft is a huge issue but don't and I mean DONT assume something about someone you don't even know straight off the break like that. Now, email, pm, or respond to this thread to test me and the legitamentcy of what I am saying, other wise shut your mouth and put a watch over your tounge next time before you speak.
