Hi
I plan to purchase a 318i 92 model (E36).
It has a manual 6-gear gear-box. Dealer told me that it was made with M3 gear-box and a newer engine.
So did BMW made 318 models with 6 gear gear-boxes?
I don't think it's possible to put a M3 gear-box on 318i (M3 has a much bigger engine) or is it? And how does it then differ from a usual gear-box?

Um.... the transmission on the M3 is a 5 speed.... except for the 2001 E46 M3. I wouldn't touch the car.... it is not a standard BMW transmission, who knows why it was put in there. Two reasons, the previous owner liked driving hard or was too cheep to put in the correct transmission and found a deal on something that would fit. Either way don't get the car.
