I'd go for the Impreza STi, if I had 30k. US Evo is missing ACD and AYC.
I'll probably pick up the Evo VIII kit tomorrow. One of a few advantages of living in tokyo. ;)

Don't worry. I was expecting to hear that. :)
I can already tell a few things without having the kit. The interior is the same as Evo VII, which is probably the same as earlier Evos. The mold on the inner side of the door is so shallow, and it looks bad.
The instruction calls for clear red for the tail light, but actually, only the turning light has to be amber, and the cover is clear. Red should be used for the bulb and reflector inside it.
I'll make some more comments about the new body, when I get the kit.

Looks like another order coming up:bloated:
Be interesting to see how many different types they bring out in the next few months (Road/Race).
I may wait to see if they do a race version later on

Hi.....saw the Fujimi Evo 8. Well...Fujimi has done it again!! Almost the same interior as Evo 7. And I was also totally disappointed when i saw the plastic most are mould in red colour. I know them too well... same kit but will come out different decals. I will be waiting to see the best decals they have come out for Evo 8 then i will buy. Meanwhile.. i found this RX-7 from Fujimi also coming up soon.

Let us know how the wheels look!

Just came back from a hobby shop with the Evo VIII kit, and I also got a brochure at a dealer.
The kit is identical to the Evo VII, except the front of the body, rear wing, audio faces, and wheels. The kit has Enkei 6 spoke, and it's not a recycle of the existing wheel. Correct decals for the Evo VIII is included, but the carbon fiber decals for the wing is useless.
The mold on the hood and bumper is dull, and they have to be sharpened.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/172410P2090007.JPG
The rocker panel is flat, but adding a triangle shaped plastic sheet with a rounded tip should solve the problem.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/714824P2090009.JPG
The wheels are Enkei 17 inch, and it looks accurate as a factory stock, but majority of AF members would want to install 18in, and lower the car.
The spoke is a bit dull, so it's better to sand the face to sharpen the edge, and paint it with Alclad II. The tires are 245/40/ZR17, while the real car has 235/45/ZR17.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/134601P2090010.JPG
The lower lip should be a bit thinner, and a parting line is missing on the kit bumper.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/193434P2090012.JPG
Here's what can be done to make the front look better. Sharpen these edges, and correct the side.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/712393P2090013.JPG
The seat is Recaro, and the seam lines are different, so you might want to scribe the correct lines, if it matters to you.
Overall, this kit is one of better Fujimi kits, and a little enhancement will make it a good replica of the Evo VIII.

It's Altezza like cover, but the kit body doesn't have the bezel and bulb details, so that will be a problem when the cover is left unpainted.
I have to think for a while, to make it look right.

I'm also a Brochure collector, maybe we could start a thread to do some swaps, it is related to modeling as we use them for referance.

Here's an interesting reference for the Evo VIII modelers.
It's Motor Fan Special issue No. 318 Lancer Evolution VIII no Subete (All about Evolution VIII)
50 pages full color + excerpt of brochure (26 pages)
ISBN 4-87904-620-5
400 yen + tax
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/260591P2100037.JPG
Each of this "All about..." series focuses on one vehicle, and it contains the driving impression, development story, buyers guide, history, motor sports, and excerpt from the dealer brochure.
It shows the preliminary design sketches like this, as well as technical drawings and photos.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/680863P2100039.JPG
Actual functionality is shown in detail, and photos cover almost every part of the interior.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/811917P2100038.JPG
Thie magazine reads in Japanese way (from right to left), but the brochure pages are included at the end, and it reads from left to right.)
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/394232P2100040.JPG
Best Car and Car Top has a similar special issue on one vehicle.
Try some Japanese book store, and they should be able to special order it for you.

Hiro
My dad used to Work for Honda and I would ALWAYS get them.
Then afetr he left, I stopped.
I have searched EVERYWHERE and never found them.
I am more interested in brochures though.
I think a brochure forum would rock! Me and Hiroboy can be the moderators :D Jay, are you listening.
BTW if anyone has a skyline GTR brochure, PM me please!
Hiro-if your willing to let any of your brochures go, PM me.

Unfortunately, no. (But I'm making the 4G63 though.)
In the pictures I posted, is the hood separate? No. So, you can almost always assume that those kits are curbside, and have no engine details.
There are a few exceptions that you have to cut the hood, and you can't judge by just looking at the body, such as Aoshima's R32 skyline, and other L28 and VG30 powered car kits.
Also, Fujimi's 240Z and KPGC110 Skyline GT-R has engine details, and you have to cut the hood.
