COULD BE A BLOWN GASKET KIT HEAD OR A FROZEN OIL MAIN LINE PIPE OR YOUR CAR COULD JUST HAVE THE FLU....EITHER WAY I DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M THALKING ABOUT :hehehe:

Check on the bottom of your head. See if anything is leaking.

If its a blown gasket you'll see what smoke from the exhaust and u'll be able to smell coolant.

okay, yikes! that could be a whole can of worms you might not want to mess with. depends on how mechanically inclinded you are. you have tou pull off the head. the head should be taken down to a machine shop to see if it was warped. if it was and very little they can machine it. then you could possibly get a thicker head gasket and put it all back together. before you do that you need to check the block. if the head was warped it is safe to assume the block needs to be checked. take a staright edge across the block in different areas to see if it's straight. if you don't like to get your hands dirty you might want to consider a replacement engine or swap.
not to alarm you but the "and all of a sudden my car starts shake and it stalls and the oil light came on..... and it sounded like it was choking...." sounds real fimiliar. the head gasket blew in the a6. let a shop fix it and they over torqued the head in 2 spots and munched the gasket :bloated: it blew again in a month. another symptom is the car over heating. check if the radiator is full. check your oil again (as mellowboy suggested). try and note the color of the oil when you pull it out. check your spark plugs. make sure they look good and no oil or any other deposits on them. have you checked the ecu for any error codes?

ok i went bak down to it too look at it and it seems like its not getting any gas and yes it has gas it has been throwing off a fuel injector error 16.......and i am thinkin thats what it might be eh?? cause it would start now and rumble and then i would go to givce it gas and it would just die

the fact that you didn't say it over-heated was kinda puzzling me. both time my head gasket went, the car over heated...all rad. fluid ended up in the block. the reason i said to check what color the oil is, when oil and coolant mix it kinda looks like chocolate milk. i'm glad you checked your ecu.
now you have to figure out why no flow. have you ever had the injectors cleaned? how many miles on the engine?
when you said it rumbled and then died i actually first thought you ran out of gas. but i thought it might be insulting to ask if that were the case. not out of gas....more like no gas flow. first thoughts were close ;).
we bought the LX and that weekend dropped the a6 in it. i went to start it 3 days later it had been running and that happened. i'm thinking head gasket a 3rd time? wtf. it didn't have any of the other symptoms. on a guess i threw some gas in. turns out the gas gauge didn't work! it was empty :licker:

just got gas yesterday though....but ya my mechanic carl said it could be a fuel pump or fuel injector and i know its not the fuel filter because it was replace 3months ago.....my car has 90000 miles on it and i dont think they have ever been cleaned except with fuel injector cleaner if thats what you are talking about......they said to replace the fuel pump it will be like $200 but first i need to get it down thier casue they dont have a tow truck god i hate problems and i want my baby to runnnnnnn

when you turn the key on do you hear the fuel pump kick click on? that really is the best way to tell. some people just crank the key when they get in to start the car. they don't even realize you can hear it. seriously sick in the head people like myslef only give it one turn of the key and wait to hear for the fuel pump before starting the car.
is the car close enough to you to go check it out?

I just had this same problem last week.. If you are getting gas into the engine then it is the igntion coil. Mine has a little burnt spot underneath the sheild. When you car died, did it shot smoke out the intake?

you're in pa... i know in my parts it hasn't been too much above the 20's.. your fuel line possiblly could be frozen... and all it needs is too be warmed up enough to thaw out... just a thought as it does happen once in a while....

thier was no smoke that i saw.....and i can get it started it just has to have a constant flow of gas getting to it.....its hard to explain you know
