code 44 ?

i have a code 44 comming up on my scanner while at idle or deceleration the car shudders and wants to stall.1988 buick lesabre t type 3800 sfi v6 fwd.any advice would be great.

Code 44 is an Oxygen Sensor Lean condition code.
This does not neccesarily mean that the O2 is bad though.
It could be related to any other part of the fuel system or even an intake leak.

You can pull the o2 sensor out and visually inspect it for damage though.
