2003 Celica GT

I was wondering for those people who purchaced a 2000+ Celica, how much you guys paid for it including tax, destination cost and everything. How much did u guys take off the MSRP and do you have ne tips for a guy looking to buy a 2003 Celica GT. Thanks in adance :flash:

I paid $16,500 plus tax but thats done by state (I bought in Indiana, live in MI) I have a 2002 (new at the time) Celica GT auto with the all weather package and spoiler. I got a show room car with 17 miles on it. I might have talked it down more, but hey I'm 18, and this is only the second "new" car I've ever bought on my own. I don't know if I could have talked it down more if I played time games, but I needed a car ASAP, I went one week and it near killed me.

wow thats a really good price! Whats the usual difference between a showroom car and a new one?

i think i paid 14,500+ tax for my GT 5-speed with 38,000 miles on it, its a 2000, i bought it on March 15th 2002 with only 1 previous owner, immaculate condition. came with the Enki rims and spoiler. i'm 17 now, and its my first car, i got it about 3 months before my 17th b-day.

kool, did you buy it from the dealer? I dont really trust pre-used cars but urs sounds like a very good deal

yea, my dad is the finance director at a nissan dealership so i got it from them. they had it as a trade in from a big sale they had, the lady who previously owned it kept it in great shape, she juss had bad knee's so she couldnt drive stick so she traded it in. the mechanics at my dad's shop did a full inspection on it and everything, no engine problems or anything wrong with it, perfect. 100% clean carfax record and i'm the 2nd owner. so it was a great deal.

i can honestly say i dont like how the changed the front bumper for 03'. the front bumper itself kinda resembles a new camry. the HID option on the 03's are nice tho. not sure how they'll change it for 04' so far i've seen no design changes.

The difference with a show room car is that its been sitting in the show room not out on the lot. (In the cold North this makes a differnce I think) The one downside is people have been getting in and out of it all the time. Luckly mine was locked, and there was a better looking GTS with the action package next to it that was unlocked. So nobody was soiling my car for the most part. Also getting a show room car will insure it wasnt used for test driving. Well if you care about the extra miles on your car that is.

Yeah the HIDs on the 03 are very nice, I like the black housing, it looks better on the darker colors which seem to be popular on the Celica, however I like the chrome on mine, it matches the Super White paint better.

As for '04, I doubt they will be making any major changes because there havnt been any concepts or spyshots out yet. Maybe in 05. With that said I'd buy an '03, or even an '02 if you can, if the dealer still has an '02 on the lot they are paying Toyota money (we got my moms outback like that) Otherwise wait until the '04's come out and then wait about a month. Once its Jan and the calender says '04 they dealers will give you good deals on the'03.

As for getting a used one, I suggest you avoid this. The engine on the Celica doesnt respond well to high boost forced induction, in fact it tends to blow the engine up. Many of the used ones you will find are Ex-Rice rockets that has a NOS system hooked up and the owner finally traded it in for a boostable application. Especially watch out on the GTSs because the GT does stand up to boost better. I almost bought a used GTS instead of my new GT until I heard this.

yes this is tru, GT's do stand up to high boost better than GT-S's and someone said on one of the forced induction celica forums that it was because of the higher piston compress and the lift maybe. but i love my GT and turbo is planned, going to build the internals first.

but if your gonna buy a used one look into the previous owner first, make sure it wasnt messed with and stuff. check carfax on it and everything. luckly the only other owner of mine was a older lady who used it to get from point A to point B in style.

Thnx a lot for ur reply guys. I dont have to worry about the new cars being out in the cold b.c. im in hawaii. I also expect to pay about $1,000 more because of my location. Actuallly, my cousin who lives in Ohio got a 2002 Celica GT with 15 inch alloy rims for $19,000. Do u think he bought it at a good price?
