Dead Cylinder...any suggestions?

I have a 87 Accord LXI. I was experiencing a 'putting' when I would hit the gas. I checked the engine and it seemed that only three of my cylinders were pumping. I put in some platinum4 spark plugs, and the cylinder worked fine for a while. Since then it seems to work only when it wants to work. Can someone offer me some suggestions as to what could be happening, and how I can fix it?
Thanks,
Xman

if its related to the spark plugs, then i would look at the cap and rotor to make sure that its still working as it should be. from there look at the ignition coil and make sure its still in spec.
the next step would be to do a compression test and see if thats your problem. if it seems low, put a very small amount of oil in the spark plug hole and see if that compression raises from that. if it does, then its the rings. if not, then look at the head gasket.
im kind of curious as to how you determined that onle 3 of the cylinders are working in the first place.
