hi does anybody know how much the 2 transmissions weigh out of these cars? if i can put in a 5speed instead of a 6speed, that would mean less weight on the car. also, what's better is that there would be a computer controlling 255hp instead of 240hp. i don't travel long distances so i don't think the overdrive gear is too important...just a thought:D

You're the one who posted on the dot org about the swap. Stay with a 5-speed. I have 6 gears and I sometimes feel they are unnecessary. You have to shift three times to get to a 5-speed's twice. I do like the 6-speed, however.

Damn

A 3.5 altima vs a 3.5 max.
Well I for one am not biased about the max so I should say that the Altima is a very fast biatch. Your car has 15 more horsepower but even at that it would still be one hell of a race. The altima weighs 2983 while the maxima weighs 3248(info found at consumer reports), although the max has more power to it's advantage it's almost impossible to know the outcome of the race.
I just say forget about the info and go race, it's a lot better when you win knowing that you didn't think you could.:D

With all due respect, That Altima is big, there is no way that thing weighs less than 3000 lbs. It is fast though (the 3.5 only).:D

yeah, i dunno where that info came from either, must have been for the old altima. the new altima actually weighs more than a max when equipped with a v6

Maximus I totally agree with you, I have seen that Altima and it is HUGE. But I got my info from consumer reports, if you want you can check it. I am not flaming you but I myself don't want to be called a liar(and I know you never said that hence, the with all due respect...).

Anyways like I said in my previous post that it will be an interesting match after all the 3.5 on both cars is a huge biatch!
I personally would like to race one even though I would get my ass handed to myself but I would want to know by how much. But that''s me, maybe I'm massochistic but hey what else is there to do?

no one's saying you're lying but that can't be the right weight for an alitma that's only 100 lbs more than my car

did some thinking & i was looking at http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=186726 and it seems like there are more complaints about the rpm being between 3k-4k. @ 70 mph mine is already close to/if not 3000rpm. 1 week for me = 1 gas tank =about 36 mi/day (school:D ). my idea of not driving much is not really showing on my bills. so the 6spd should help me fix it rite?

That is correct. More gears= less rpm's at normal driving.

yeah, when i drive to jersey i'll be doin 90 in third gear at almost 4 grand. I'd like a 6th gear at times like that

yeah, with the 6 speed the max gets surprisingly good gas mileage on the freeway...on a trip there and back from colorado, i was averaging about 27 mgp at cruising speed
