90 jetta stalling when clutch is in

ok, i just bought a 1990 jetta. the thing runs preaty good but somtimes stalls when the motor is just getting warm. The problem seems to always happen when i go to stop and put the clutch in at a stop sign or traffic light. please help!

my jetta had a really off idle, it was really low, and when i started it, it would idle so low that it would stall out...
after it warmed up it would have no problems...
that was like 5 years ago though, so i don't remember what the exact problem was...
it was an 85 8v auto...
maybe your clutch isn't fully disengaging the motor from trans?

I have a '98 Jetta 2.0 that is doing the same thing. Except it seems to only happen with the air on.
