UN Security Council met to hear Powells evidence against Iraq.

I can see it now.

Gentlemen, our evidence is as follows.

"He's an evil man!"

Seriously though, we all knew that the US was going to come up with some sort of "evidence" when they spirited away Iraq's declaration of arms programs, before anyone else could lay their eyes on it.

Apparently, they had to seize it before it reached the UN, and fly it to
Washington, because they have better copying machines there.

Of course they have better copying machines...tThey have Kinko's, same company that copied the White House Investgators report on Clinton.

Why do the Republican bores in this forum insist on trying to bring Clinton into every thread? He's no longer the President, and has nothing to do with this topicHe would not get the opportunity to be President again if Bush did the right thing and stepped down,so what is the point of bringing his name up?Seems you guys are just trying to divert attention away from the facts. The U.S. strongarmed the report away from the U.N. suposedly for 'more secure' photocopying. It's a report for the U.N.,for God's sake, the biggest public forum in the world.
The U.S. had no mandate to seize it,and in doing so have compromised its neutrality. The report is now a worthless document unless it can be proven by its authors to be in original form.

Isupect that the U.S. military and intelligence services grabbed it in order to act againgst Iraqi targets before the report was made public. The pretence that the current administration respects or supports the U.N. is a farce. The U.S. is prepared to use U.N. resolutions to legitimize it's actions, but refuses to work through the proper channels as a U.N. member.

I see this very often, it's playing the partisan card. It's the same as how whenever there is a major issue to deal with, they focus on a minor issue that is related, and turn it into a Republians vs Democrat thing... Of course, it's completely moot, as both are just serving the major US corporations anyways.

100% correct. All they have to do is omit a single facility, and it becomes a "secret weapons lab!". Grounds for war, of course.

They even refuse to heed UN resolutions, with continued protection of Israel in the UN, and selective removal of UN personell who work against their interests.

and reading this (http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/02/05/sprj.irq.powell.un/index.html) I can't see that he has enough to justify any attack on the Iraqis.

"I cannot tell you everything that we know," Powell said, with CIA Director George Tenet sitting behind him. "But what I can share with you, when combined with what all of us have learned over the years, is deeply troubling."

If he had any further information that incriminated Iraq,he'd table it in a flash. He's desperate for U.N. support to give the campaign credibility,he knows that the U.S.does not have the moral authority to interfere in the affairs of another nation without it,and he is trying everything from bribery to blackmail in order to get some credible support behind theb plan to invade Iraq.
Saddam Hussein has consistently denied any links with Al Quaida.Whatever happened to Bin Laden ,by the way?George Bush swore to leave no stone unturned until he found him.Does he really think that Osama is hiding in the bottom of an oil well in Iraq?

Ok, for sake of argument let's say that it is true about the U.S. taking the documents from the U.N. Wouldn't Iraq have done the smart thing and had thier own copy? I mean, when you make a credit card purchase there are several copies of the reciept. I would think that Iraq would cover thier rears a little better. If it was me running Iraq I would have made millions of copies and practically "littered" the world with it.

Well, there's no argument about it, it's what happened. The US Gov't doesn't deny it.

If they offered another copy that was different from the "original" that the US presented the UN, the US would immediately use that as a pretense to start a war. Of course, they're going to anyways, they just don't say that on CNN... I do believe the Washington Post has already run a few articles stating how they are going to war regardless, and that it degrades the integrity of the media for other media outlets to pretend otherwise...
