Sponsorship?

Is anybody here sponsored?

A guy came up to me today as I was sitting in my hatch, and he handed me a flyer for the HIN Seattle that's coming up. Anyways, he said that he is a recruiter for Racer X, and wanted to know if I'd be interested in sponsorship, so I got his number and stuff. Sounded like a pretty cool deal, some good discounts on parts and whatnot... Apparently, I'd have to show the car alot, and if it was a racing sponsorship, I'd have to do alot of racing or whatever...

I've never heard of Racer X before, anyone know anything about them?

Yea, cause then you could be liable for stupid shit, like if you couldnt make one event that was 100 miles away or some shit and they can take all they gave you away or some shit......

I would definetly read all the fine print, probably wouldnt be a bad idea to have legal advice either. sponsorship is a good thing if you really want to fix up your car for cheap and enter some shows and races but you better to be ready to do a shit load of it.

Yeah, the dude was saying that all the bolt-ons would be free, and 50% off alot of other stuff and whatnot...

Basically, what I was thinking is doing the whole show thing with the hatch I have now, and then buying a 2Grex or another 4Ghatch and building it for race using the sponsorship $.

I'll probably call the guy just to get some more information and see what happens... Could be fun, could be shitty.

Sounds like a sweet plan to me.

But whatever you do, don't sign a contract. I guy I know got sponsored had his car souped up, showed it. Then a year later diddent want to be sponsored anymore, so he quite the team. And now the sponsors are sueing him for all the $$ for the supposed free parts.

if theirs a contract involved, i hope you know a lawyer buddy to go over it for you. some times the way ppl word things can be odd to confuse the normal reader. im no lawyer but im an english major so if you need some help understanding some of the fine print, let me know.

I was sponsored on wagon by wings west. It is cool that they give you free stuff and what not. But if you don't read the print you can get screwed. I signed a contract for 2 years. BUT in the fine print it clearly states that if the contract is broken before the date it is supposed to, you will be held liable for all of the parts that they give you. So Becareful.
