You guys will get a kick out of this. I am in the process of building a new engine for my Integra, which I will soon swap into my Teg and remove the old one, which as it turns out is one very fucked up B18C1. I ran a compression check on it this past weeknd with my buddy. Keep in mind that when new, each cylinder is supposed to achieve 270 psi of pressure, with 180 psi being the service limit. Ideally, you'd also like to have 5 to 10 psi of variation (or less) in pressure from cylinder to cylinder. Here's how my engine measured:
Cylinder # 4: 180 psi
Cylinder # 3: 130 psi
Cylinder # 2: 155 psi
Cylinder # 1: 98 psi
FUBAR!!! Need I say more?
By the way, I'm not upset about it. I have my new engine going in, luckily, and I plan to thoroughly rebuild my old engine before doing ahything with it. It will still be quite useable once it is reconditioned. For now, I laugh, smile, thank the engine for serving me so well, and marvel at how well it continues to run, despite its atrociously worn state.

LOL!!! When I saw the topic of this thread I had to read what it was about. Ya, by the looks of those compression ##'s, that engine has definitly seen better days.
And the fact that you say that it is still running ok astounds me, because with that ultra low #1 cyl number, your pretty lucky that your even getting any power out of that cyl at all.
Thank the engine gods that that baby is still running, and good luck with your new one :D

Now that to me would be the ultimate notice to rebuild that engine. Wow, those numbers are low.

Yeah, the fact that it runs, and runs decently is a big shock to me. I was of the belief that once you get staggering inequalities in cylinder pressure in a given engine (particularly one with only four cylinders!!) you could hear the "uneven" stroking. It doesn't sound nice and quiet at idle like a new engine, but it doesn't sound "off" once it gets up to speed (say anything over 2,000 rpms). It still can make pretty good power in VTEC range, and has transported me literally thousands of miles in its current condition. I was even able to get her up to 132 mph a few weeks ago when racing a Corolla (and, honestly, I decided I was going fast enough, so I eased off.. I've heard that the speedo could be misreading at such high speeds, but I've always been shown that my speedo is dead on accurate). I have no explanations.. but I certainly love that car!!

Hey, just wanted to let you know that after all the months of researching, planning, waiting, and ultimately building, my new engine (and all the other crap that I bought to go with it) is in and running great!! I'm struggling with some fuel pressure and throttle "stickiness" issues, but they're going to work out nicely. I'll get a new picture of my "new" engine bay uploaded once I complete my new intake.

Read the user guidelines please!!!!!!!! This thread is from 2001!!!!!!!! I have been in the integra forum since 2003 and never ever seen any of these people post here. My guess is they don't have integras anymore. Please do not bring up old threads.
