E36 5sp Question

Say you're doing 80 mph in 5th gear... About what rpm do you think you'd be running? I've heard a few people say that they don't like the high rpms required to go higher freeway sort of speeds relative to automatics or even other 5 speeds. Does this bother anyone? Did the E36 need a 6th gear?

about 3700 rpms, if i remember correctly. yes, the E36 M3 needed a 6th gear to make highway cruising comfortable. however, i still get 24mpg, so it's not too bad. would've been nice for them to give us the 6 speed out of the european M3 though.
