I took my car to a couple of audio stores to upgrade my current bose audio and everyone so far has told me that bose equipment cant be upgraded with other equipment and that it i want to upgrade i would have to change the bose radio. I know thats probably BULL in order to make money. But I just wanted to know if anyone has upgraded their bose audio, using the stock bose radio and just changing the amp, speakers and maybe adding woofers????:smoka:

Had almost the same experience. When I went looking for a wiring harness all of the audio stores kept telling me I had to replace every single one of my speakers and re-wire the whole car. I talked to my friend and he said it was BS.
When my wiring harness comes in (ordered online), I will tell you how it goes. I'm installing a new amplifier and 2 subs.
Also installed a new receiver. :)

I upgraded the bose radio and the rear speakers in the car to 6.5 3way premiers and tommorrow im going to install the front 6.5 premier component system. i had to run new wire from the speaker to the kick panel on the floor of the car next to where your feet are. also put new wire from the tweeter to the panel also because thats where im going to mount the cross over that came with the system. The guy at theelectronic store sponsors are car club "Emperial", he tells us what would sound nice in our cars, he told me that you dont have to rewire the entire car when you replace the factory amp but since the factory wires are so thin and the fact that they run alng side taped next to other factory wires that carry power it would be better to rewire the car because the thin wire might pick up engine noise. also he said to replace the factory speakers is best because they bring built in amps
