Use Your Ignore Lists

I'm disappointed to have to make this post. :(

We seem to be having quite a bit of personality clash in this forum lately. In order to minimize the impact on the forums, I must advise all members to...

Use your Ignore Lists (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/member2.php?s=&action=viewlist&userlist=ignore).

Ignore lists are used for those people whose messages you wish not to read. By adding someone to your ignore list, those messages posted by these individuals will be hidden when you read a thread. You will also not see Private Messages from these users.

If there's another member that you don't like, or if they just seem to rub you the wrong way, put their username in that list.

What if the person changes though? They might only have a "bad day" I think people should just shutup, its the wierd ones who take out their stress on us on forums when they are in a bad mood and we are always nice to them. Seems stupid to me for people to come on and treat us like that.

P.S.: On the other hand, I know we all hate Huudo for not priming his damn cars :D :D :D

this kinda reminds me of all the censorship a--holes in the US that think that tv and radio and magazines should be regulated for content. people... you have a choice. no one is forcing you to read someones post. if you dont like it.... move on. get on with your life. dont sit there and post a rude or demeaning reply to it.

life is to short to fight with your friend, co-workers, family, and in this case people you probably havent even met. jeez, this is the new millenium, this is the internet...

enough said.... im probably getting slapped on some ignore lists right now!!!!:finger:

Why can't we ignore people on purpose without the need for an electrical option, if you get bothered by one person, then don't respond to that. So what if someone flames you, you most probably don't know him in person, so what could he know about you to make you angry or someting like that. And if someone almost only can't keep his great mouth shut, so be it, but if he once compliments someone on it, you won't able to see that he's just a person to and that he might have changed, or at least looks like he has changed.

I'm not intending to use it, maybe here and there there has been an argument, but I don't think that it was that sort of dispute to start using ignnore lists. In general I stand for what I do and say, and defend my position :rolleyes: but I respect people's other views even if not in line with what I think.

And to all the people who get excited by what others are writing, it's just an electronic board for crying out loud to share idea's and views. Anyway, should continue on my models again. Those %'s are way to long the same in there...

Looks like you have beaten me to this one Jay !!

I havent been able to read to many posts over the last few days due to being busy, but after reading what i have done,i have to agree with Jay on this one....the threads are getting a bit out of hand with some of the comments going on etc.
I think it would be fair to say that you will be given ONE Warning, the next time you will be banned.
This place is one of the best darn places you will find when it comes to talking etc about models, so i'm not going to sit and watch it get dragged down by a few who want to spoil it for the rest.

i second that. i for one am not going to use my list, but those that do annoy me will not be given any recognition by me. i still want to read their posts, but i'm not going to let any of them get to me.

i agree.

only recently there have been a few "incidents", but normally it's just a one time thing so i choose not to ignore anyone, but it is a great feature for those who don't like others. too bad things came to a point where jay had to post this :(

90% of my replies to posts are to offer needed help, tips, or reference information. I'll tell someone doing a project I've completed exactly how I did it. Click on my profile and veiw my last ten replies, then look at yours! Who's adding to the knowledge base and who's the mad-posting machine??!!
If I have an off-the-wall question for a poster, I PM them!

I've gotten along with everyone on this board until lately when we've been inundated with kids who, after building 3 or 4 models, think they know enough to teach someone who's built hundreds, been in magazines, won national competitions, etc. how to build a model!
I don't come here for amatuer-hour, much less boastful-amatuer-hour! Don't tell me about your painting 3-4 parts with and without primer and then announce that primer isn't nessesary. It isn't, if your only after a mediocre paint job!
My free time is precious to me, don't waste it with such drivel.
I'm interested in people wanting to improve their skills, as I am. I'm not interested in a "dumbed-down" board.....

And for those whose sigs are bashing America's President and possible war on the horizon -

Now that your getting your teeth stuck into the hobby again with the Comaro project, we'll all miss out if u left!

I'm with flyonthewall and Rallyraider on this. Don't go becaus of some-one. If you did because of "something" I could understand, but not because of some-one. You should be above that ;) You got three fans and the ignore list possibility, so come-on. Once a modeler always a modeler!! :jump:

I currently have 312 people on my ignore list, it works quite well. :)
