Settings for Street Drifting

What's your best drift set-up? And no, I'm not talking neither about drift settings for tarmac racing nor rally racing, I'm talking about free-racing by yourself in some rear-wheel-drive car and making the hugest, widest, and smoothest arc possible at moderate speeds.
I use the 180SX, with relatively soft suspension (I won't bother with the exact numbers), tall gearing so that I won't need to change gears excessively, no LSD, and most importantly--equip simulation tires.
Like this, I can stay askew for a full 5 seconds at anywhere from 60-100mph.

Can you post some of your drift settings? I have a few (Hachi-roku, Lancer Evo IV (yes you can drift in a four wheel drive car) and a 1800k Silvia). I can post some of them if you like. I love to monster kill with them, especially the 1800K.

What are you settings for all-wheel-drive drifting? I know its doable, but its hard to hold a smooth angle for a long time with four wheels powering (unless its on the wet track in GT3). My settings I cannot remember at the top of my head but like I said, the damper settings and spring rates were fairly low, along with the aforementioned other settings.

I have the torque set weird and also I changed the differential so 80% of the power goes to the rear wheels. It handles better than most of my rear-wheel drive cars. Oh and I have strong sway bars.

Cool, gotta try it like that. Yeah, most of my all-wheel-drive cars have the center differential set to more power to the rear wheels too. Simply put, I hate understeer.

So, nobody knows any settings? I haven't been able to tweak my AE86, either...

I messed around with the settings and they worked quite well, but I don't really know what they are exactly as its on my friends memory card. I check it out and post
also, what car(s) do you use?

Set the gear ratios to "long" so that you won't ever run into the redline too quickly at mid-drift. Set the rears to toe out a little bit; that way you won't totally spin out every time. For all-wheelers, you might need to tap the parking brake to break free from the line.

Get a 400R and put a stage 2 (or more if you're mad) turbo kit on it (with the zorst and all other trimmings) and it will drift. It doesn't really know it's 4WD, I think :p Anyway, it gets well sideways, really easily. And as long as you're careful about it, quite manageable. btw, that's without the VCD, so it's the standard 4WD system. :D

Yea, I know, about a year late ...
I kinda like the Supra ... 1000+hp, it spins the tires to 130mph, no matter what you set the LSD to, and if you play with the TCS, its either too strong, and slows you down in a corner, or its too soft, and you spin out .. I've got it Max Tuned, and it slides pretty nicely ... just throttle oversteer, and hang on ... When I get finished moving, I'll dig up my game, and post my settings.

300zx 2 seater. Boost that puppy up to 915hp and take off all form of traction control. I have my limited slip all set to 5 except the acceleration, which is set to 10. (way too much horsepower) Put on some racing tires and let yourself lose on midfield raceway. I have a replay saved from a perfect drifting session I had, all I need to do is find a way to put it on my computer.

my fav. car for any reason is the evo 5 gsr. for only 530 somthing hp it out runs a lot and the handling is great in any situation. as for my ae6 toyota it could be me the settings are good i can handle and other car in the game (4wd, rwd, fwd) but i think this car just stinks. my oppinion of course.

traction control at 1
asm at 0
sim tires
front tires toe angle out
rear tires toe of 0
suspension stiffer in the rear than front, but overally stiff
lsd, flywheel, cluttch and drivetrain parts are a must to maximize sifting in between gears

im gona have to set my Z to the way u said. i have mine kidan set up that way. but i have my power band the widest it will go but even when i go to Leguna Seca and at the first turn i brake to second gear come around the corner and about 3/4 through it start to accelerate and i spin out like a mofo. hopefully your settings will help me

i usualy go the silvi 2000k max it out with modz
suspension....
normal spring rate
lowest ride height
camber on front-4 rear 8
damper bound 4 on both front and rear
damper rebound 6 on both
umm stabalizer 4 on front 6 on rear
i have a short gearbox coz thers no point being able to do 300k wen u only need to do 200k, soft racing tyres on front, hard on rear...
no traction control or ASM and u have urself a nice lil drifter :) thats just rough specs too....might need to play with it a bit more

I didn't even think about drifting in GT3. Its been a while since I played, and I went and messed with a little, and I forgot how to turn the TCS and stuff off. Can someone please help me. I feel like such a noob, but anyways, using a Skyline with 1000+ hp is going to be pretty fun.

what should be the hp range for drifting? does it really matter, just as long as you have enough power to spin the tires?

the RX8 is the ultimate drift car. Not overly difficult to control, it doesn't spin its tires relentlessly on take off, and it can be driven like a normal race car, until you shift the weight of flick it and get on the throttle, then it drifts with the best of 'um. I could never get my AE86 to drift right, it spins to easily, but the RX8 worked perfect the first time.

the AE86 is a very fun car to drift i can get it to slide just by turning the wheel. and that's with teh stickiest tires i can get. it only has 384 hp and if i turn to fast, i spin. my R32 is fun, i have the VCD set so all the power goes to the rear, and it has stock suspension. getting it to slide with the super soft tires can be tricky, but once it goes sideways, it sticks, and getting it out can be tricky sometimes, cause when it's pegged at 90 degrees, it is very unstable, let off the gas, it spins, tap the brake it spins, so your best bet is to mash the gas and shift up. that's how i get the grip back. i think i'll do something to make it better. like put sim tires on it. and the AE86, i'll post my settings, tell me how ya like them or hate them.
Spring rate: 5.3 Front, 6.2 rear
ride hight: 116 front and rear
shock bound: 9 front 6 rear
shock rebound: 7 front 7 rear
camber 2 front 1 rear
stablizers: 5 front 6 rear
limited slip initial:19
accel: 40
deaccel: 20
as for everything else, they are fully dect out with a turbo charger. the gearing, you people play with them on your own. i top out on the Complex String at teh end of the long straight
