Mr Mark Softer

hi, I'm new to AF and I'm wondering whether any of you have problems with Gunze's Mr Mark Softer? I was doing the Hasegawa Focus WRC with bigass decals that go over panel lines, curves and right-angled surfaces :bloated: and used this stuff but it didn't work :(


i have heard that the Cartograf decals are a bitch to work with, or is it because Mr Mark Softer is too weak? no microsol sold here :(

Depends on which years formulation you're using. I have a bottle of really old early 90s Mark Softer, and it wrinkles tamiya/fujimi decals within 3 minutes of application. The newer formulation seems to be like water and doesn't make the decals conform.

bought mine 6 months ago, and you're right, it is watery... I've heard that when you put decal solutions on decals, you can't touch the decal for a few minutes since it is so soft. Mr Mark Softer hardly wrinkles the decal!

is microsol available online anywhere? (anywhere that offers shipping to Australia, that is...)

Actually, I prefer to think you shouldn't touch the decal at all for a whole day while it dries. Other options you could source for are Tameo Sof or Modelers Decal Fit.

On Cartograph decals I use Polly S Decal Setting Solution, it works great, like a match made in heaven:)
On Revell decals I use Walthers Solvaset which it really strong(Walthers are the model railroad people).
On Tamiya decals I use heat, a hot cloth and patience to get decals to conform.

Hasegawa WRC decal are very tick.. I use a heat source to help the decal fitting (I have a hot light :D )

I am using Gunze's Mr Mark Softer and I have no problem with it. I usually put the decal in place wait for a few seconds, then I put some of the Mr. Mark Softer, wait for another few seconds before removing the excess Mark Softer using cotton. As for thick or large decals, I let it on a little longer before I rub the excess off. You have to be careful with it because it makes the decal soft and you should not touch it at least for an hour or more.
