no it's not illegal because if you notice most american cars have red turn signals.

Actually it is illegal, because there are no white reverse lights on your car, just the red ones. Just don't back out near a cop.

Go to any hobby shop where they sell model cars/airplanes/boats/tanks/robotrons/RC cars/whatever and buy the Candy Apple Translucent. $3.50/can.
The rest is as follows: masking tape and newspaper to tape off the amber part of the lens and keep the overspray off the rest of the car (I left my trunk open), maybe an x-acto knife to trim excess masking tape away from the amber part. Then use a lint-free cloth to clean the amber lens with rubbing alcohol (or you can do that before you tape and a once-over after to be sure). Then, start spraying with light, even strokes about 6" away from the lens. Put on a light coat, wait 1/2 hour, apply the next coat, wait another 1/2 hour, stare at it, and quit if you think it's the "redness" you want. Then coat with clear or light smoke to seal.
Here's a photo after I had done some painting. Don't get in a hurry like I did. I applied the 2nd coat too soon after the first and started to get runs & "orange peel". Shoulda known better, I've done enough painting. Just don't do it when it's cold, 60F or warmer. Take your time. If you prefer, remove the lenses from the car so that you can lay them flat to ensure no runs.
