License Plate

This may sound dumb to some of you. But I think that UK or German license plates look really cool. Maybe thats because I'm used to American plates. I want to get an expired custom Uk or German plate that says something cool. Keep in mind I'm not talking about registering the car in the UK or Germany I just want a plate. (I'll keep my real one in the car in case I get pulled over.)

Anybody else think a Euro plate would look good? Any ideas where I could find one? Can I have one made?

i just punched in license plates at yahoo and came up this on the first page. i'm sure there is many more.

i agree, german or uk plates do look cool. they would look really cool on your car.

I think its a great idea! I like originality when it comes to cars. I'm gonna think of somethings you could put on it.

Ya, I'd agree the German Plates (Not so much UK) look pretty neat. If it's only one plate and no others then it'd look awesome. I say this because in Quebec there's car with Euro plates and then a nice Quebec one on the back, I really don't like it.

Get something like;

" AOE2" "2FST4U" "1HTLMBO" or even a generic plate might look neat.

Tony, this is a very good idea. IMO, stay with the US plates, they looks better. But what do I know, I critisized your chrome rims and they turned out fine. So get the German plate and choose one of those nice names. I tihnk Ensemble would be good, seeing how it is your own company. Let me know what you are going to do.

I agree, "ENSEMBLE" would be great, but I also like "205 MPH" its a real eye catcher(maybe draw too much police attention), My ideas:

TX = Texas

Platen Licenses from Europe right now (almost all of them) are the same.

Europe is trying to copy USA in many matter (the same air space for planes, the same platen licenses, the same money -Euro-, etc.).

So Platen Licenses from Germany and Spain are the same.

German platens have minor differences, two little logos, but the style is the same.

I am sad to hear Germany do not allow customizable platen licenses.

Spain do not allow customizable platen licenses too.

However, England lets you buy customizable platen licenses.

At least, I think yes?

Weather in Spain is cold.

North Spain have snow storms and a lot of cold.

I am in south Spain, near Seville so we have not major quantity of bad weather here.

However, we have been reaching at mornings 7º C which probably for you will not be cold weather (Germans are common to snow and rain) but Spanish guys are more common to sunny days and hot, so when you have here 7º C we gets literally frozen.

The European style is:

A white platen license, rectangular.

A blue ribbon, with stars in yellow doing a circle. It symbols the countries of the European Community.

Under the stars are a letter with the name of the country.

This case E = España.

Note the name of the country is not Spain (english) but España (as it is written in the propietary languaje of the country.

There are four numbers: 0 0 0 0 to 9 9 9 9

There are three letters: BBB (example)

Are not allowed vowels to avoid offensive words.

This platen license is not legal (by example) 1231 ASS

The style is: 1921 BFG

I prefer American style, European style is boried.

In my city, near my house there is a little shop where you can order platen licenses. Just do a phone call, tell them the numbers and letter and pay.

A curiosity, the chemicals of the platen licenses here in Spain are from 3M, the company, and have logos of 3M in the platen license ... LOL

Thanks everyone that helps. Here is what I am going to do:


I am going to order a Texas plate that says "60N1ST" or "DOH"

I am going to order a German plate that says "ENSEMBLE"

Since the German plate is not legal I will use it until I get a ticket. Then I will switch to the Texas plate.

Any bets on how long I can drive around with a German plate before I get pulled over.

I vote for 60N1ST, but DOH is also very good. Would it be possible to have it say DOH!, with the exclamation point? And for ENSEMBLE on the German plate its perfect. I bet until you run into the first cop that is extremely jealous of you and your car you will then get a ticket. Its been so long since I've been to Dallas so I dont know how the DPD are there, but my bets are that the TX Highway Patrol pulls you over first, hehe, hope not though.

Well, in my humble opinion, I don't know how the USA police acts in that situation but I consider important quote several things:

1. German platen licenses the same as Spanish or French or Portuguesse use the new European style (blue ribbon) being very similar among them.

2. To order an European platen license is necessary register the car in the country of the platen license. That means exactly is necessary to register the car in England if is required a platen license from England.

3. The government assigns you the numbers and identification to the platen license.

Order a platen license with aleatory numbers or letters is possible, but is illegal.

Besides that, is dangerous.

If a policeman see you wear a platen license which doesn't match with their registry, here in Spain, happends two things:

1. The car is immediately stopped

2. The owner of the car go directly to the Jail.

The situation is like this:

A platen license is an official document, like a passport, not in paper, but certainly a government document.

If you invent a platen license with numbers it is like you were inventing a document and using a government form or property to do that. That is not legal, and almost here in Spain is fined with money and Jail.

Life is dangerous and many people use aleatory platen licenses to do criminal acts, like scape from terrorist acts. That is the reason Government in Spain pursuit irreal platen licenses.

Is not a joke, driving with an aleatory or invented platen license, in Spain, is very dangerous.

Drive without driving license is even softer than driving with an invented platen license.

Don't know how it is in USA.

Here is what the Texas plates would look like. I'm wondering if anyone will get the 60N1ST? Any preferences.

I would doubt anyone to have the 60N1ST plate, but I aslo like 205MPH and 580BHP, i think they are very unique. With the 205 especially you may be more prone to having the coppers keeping an eye on you. But I guess thats part of the fun with an exotic.

Well... I think when you are driving to 205 MPH there is no many time to get hidden messages in the platen license.

I prefer DOH, is short and direct.

I agree with texasmodena, 60 could involve age references.

205 MPH sounds good, but not very good for police... is like defiant...

DOH is the best for me.

ILOVE80S (I am a 29 years old guy, what can I say, 80's are the best)

E MOTION (could be understood like EXCITING MOTION or EMOTION, hidden message)

Tony, I think you should put Ensemble on your plate. It's you own company and I don't really like the 60N1ST thing, and I doubt people will know what it means. The 580BHP and the 205MPH are cool too, showing off a fast car is great. Just get what you like best. Don't listen to any of us, it's your car. ;)

The only problem is the cop? Why is it a problem?

-If they are in front, they wont saw it...so no big deal
-Not much car can reach 205 mph= no porsche( beside RUF), corvette, not every Ferrar...i
-If the cops are behind: you will be seeing them no?
-If they pull you over, and they argue concerning the 205 mph...don't they know that this car can reach 205? I mean even my grand mother could tell that his car is fast :rolleyes:

Of course that wont mean anything to other drivers.

Some people who read the plate will get it some won't. The majority of people who will even understand the plate will be people who know what a Lamborghini is and have some understanding of cars in general. Some people will probably walk/drive right by your car and not even notice it b/c they don't have an interest, those who pay attention will understand it.:)

Only for 30 days after purchase. But no one has pulled me over yet. I plan on taking care of it very soon. I just keep procrastinating.

I had a custom number plate on the go kart... :( It was given to me as a joke when I picked up the Jaguar from Stratstones. They stuck it to the car over the real plates, and before they showed me through to the carpeted garage with the car in, they said to me at the door -
"As you have had a Jaguar before, and many other people have bought one from here on your recommendation, we decided that we would give you a gift..."
A little scared, I walked through the door and look ed at the car. All seemed normal. Then I looked down at the long, curvy bonnet, and it had surpassed all expectations... then I suddenly realised something was wrong. To my horror the plates BOG 1 was on the car!!! The 2 men there were laughing their heads off, and leaned forwards to take off the front and went round to take off the back plates. I went driving around at night, reaching speeds of 125mph on the way home, and as I was coming up the drive home I decided to stick the plates back on. I drove into the courtyard my wife coma out to see the new car, and as soon as she saw the number plates, she REFUSED to get into or use the car! After I agitated her a bit with "I thought you would like it" I told her it was just a fake.

Bog doesn't work in the US. It just means swamp and john doesn't work in the UK.

Toilet is a funny word. Toil implies it will be a very trying experience.

Bathroom doesn't quite work either. Most of the time I dont need a room with a bath. Usually I just need a release.

What about throan? Does that work in the UK. I like throan. Its much more descriptive of what going on.

I had this German plate made. Its not at all legal. But I'll keep it on until I get a ticket. (I have a legal plate in the trunk.)

I know this isn't so cool for you European folks. But I'm an American and the Euro plate looks really cool to me.
