How much do you guys pay for winter jackets?
I'll be buying a new one like next month, so i was just wondering.
What kinds do you get?
I snowboard so I buy a snowboard brand for snowboarding.. with their super water proofing etc.
Last year I bought a Special Blend Jacket (snowboard company) it cost me about $350
and also a more preppy tommy winter jacket so i don't look weird wearin khakis and a boarder jacket :D that cost me (well my dad) like $250 or so

Jay, um, honey??? You feelin okay?
Winter is that funny time of year when fluffy white stuff falls from the sky, and it is not as warm... No, the fluffy white stuff is not TP from passing airplanes, it's called SNOW . It makes downhill skiing much easier :)

Oh, and on the actual thread topic, I paid $200 on my ski jacket. It has pockets everywhere, and the liner zips/unzips out of the shell so I have a 3-in-1 for pretty much any season...

Same here. I got one of those big bubble jackets too, mine was about $300 tho.
Its great, but almost too warm. If I have to go in and out of a building more than once, ill be just soaked in sweat. I dont snowboard or ski, but i know its good cause I use it for snowmobiling and ice fishing, and im never cold.

Go buy yourself a nice new leather jacket. For the amount of skiing I do a year - I just wear my old puffy winter coat with suade shoulders (your typical $50 coat). I still look decent in my big black coat, and when I'm done, I don my nice leather jacket for going out.

i went to my boardshop and they can't even order my jacket til thanksgiving. so it will be a while til i get mine. SB makes some pretty sweet outerwear. this year i am going with Foursquare though. i can't decide between the Red TS.8000 Niagra or the red FS.20000 Paramount. both are damn nice jackets and they cost around $260 because i'd have to pay for shipping and stuff like that. but i'm sticking with all the other stuff i bought last year. limited board, 5150 bindings, Forum JP Walker boots, SB pants, dragon goggles...I LOVE SNOW!

lol... four square and Special Blend are the same company :D 4 star distribution
that's why all their stuff looks similar :)
but yeah.. i used to like Dub stuff, but last year their stuff was so ugly
i'm keepin most of my snowboard stuff too.... M3 snowboard, Burton CFX bindings and DC premier boots
how are the Forum boots? are they any good?
i had a forum snowboard before my M3... it was good but the M3 is way better, it's stiff and snappy :D

I got to get some new gloves, googles and a helmet this year, I may opt for a new set of bindings to (I'm hating Step-ins) as for a coat, last year I got the Burton Biolite Snowsiut, I wantyed the Toast but hey, you get what you get. I'm loving it, no rips, very durable and I usually wear just the coat around outside and a fleece underneath when on the slopes. You do have to layer or else you freeze at 8:00 going up the chairlift when it's minus 30 outside.
BTW, any suggestions on Googles? I really want white Spy's but I'd consider an Oakley one too.

oh so you're a helmet kid eh? :D
Ontario is the worst place ever for snowboarding though.... or as i refer to our province: Onterrible
I agree with you about step-ins... i don't like them, i like traditional strap bindings waaaay better, they're more comfortable, your foot seems like it's stuck to the board... while with step-ins when you're turning on your heel edge it feels like you're pulling the board with the bottom of your feet
Spy's are the best..... but those Oakley A-style/type whatever it is, the As are nice... i had oaks before and didn't like'em
The spies are yet too fog or crack or anythin.... and they like rap around your head :D

Am I the only non-boarder in here? I love skiing. And don't jump to conclusions!!! I tried boarding once. My knees are bad to begin with, and with bruises that lasted for 5 weeks after my attempt at boarding, I decided to stick to something I'm good at. :D Damn toe edge!
I wish I could to out West to ski. PA mtn's suck. I liked Holiday Valley in Ellicotville, NY and Massanutten, VA. But my parabolic skis are quite well suited to the slushy conditions here, and I always make an ass out of myself when powder does fall here! Carving edges doesn't work well in that silly snow!

Easier? 2 skis vs. 1 board... You just gotta hit the jumps right. Besides, the larger majority of boarders think they are soooo hard... until your skis cover double the distance they could only dream of!!!!

yeah, that's why you were soooooo good at snowboarding when you tried
cause it's easier than skiing
i don't think i have ever fallen on skis, while my first time on a snowboard it was different :)
it's easier having 2 skis, cause you just point where you wanna go and you go without falling (if it's your first day), with 2 feet it's alot easier to balance. if you're snowboarding and you just go straight (without control) you catch an edge and you fall (that's why your knees were so sore)

I was actually pretty good at boarding w/the exception of the toe edge. I'm good at skiing because I figure skated for 8 years, and a lot of the same balance issues are in skiing. As opposed to boarding where I kept trying to flick the tail out due to habit.

i tried skiing once and i almost shoved the poles in my nose to end teh misery. i only fell a handfull of times my first time boarding so i stuck with that and now, its all good. i couldn't even picture myself skiing. oh and better watch out, that toe edge is a bitch.

I love riding on my toe edge much more than heel edge, I just feel off-centered, but when you're carving, it's all the same. BTw, gan$tarr, same story as yuo pretty much expcet I never have skied in my life, I just saw all the cool snowboarders once and said, this is so coo. I'm at the parks sometimes (Although I hate grinding) this, year I'm going to do extensive practice on big air and ither high velocity, big distance jumping. I aslo want to start doing some inverted tricks, which I hear aren't that hard to do.

My friend did that last yera at a local small hill, they got a Snowplow to build up a jump which was later turned into a big air jump of sort, and then they broguht lights and cameras and were doing truck drivers and 360 nose taps. (They got a 100cm board and someone held it up over the jump, you did a 180, touched your nose to the base of the board, then did another 180 and landed, all in one motion) BTw, I gotta get a lot better if I'm going to keep up with you guys!

the main thing i have to over come each time i wanna learn a new trick is fear... i'm always scared somethins gunna happen, then i try to forget about it and just do it so i don't look like an idiot in front of my friends (who are amazing at boarding :D )
I'm gettin really good though.... the only thing about Onterrible (Ontario) is that it's all ice, everything is always ice, so it hurts like a BITCH when you fall
the only thing i ever hurt though is like my tail bone.. i never land on my knees and i never hit my head... it still hurts like a bitch, the worst is when you fall tryin a trick on the ice and you just feel sick, like your stomach turns... that's the worst pain, most people stay down for like 30 seconds when that happens. But when that happens to me i get up right away, so that it looks like it didn't hurt that much... even though on the way down the rest of the hill, i'm like all numb and i can't talk :D lol

That is sooooo much fun :D it almost takes the heat off, till you look at your board and there's like a chip on it.. then you just get twice as mad and start breaking everything you see, hehe :D
