Well first off I hope you dont feel these types of threads are annoying, Ive been a member here, but never posted anything so I hope I'm not asking any dumb newbie questions. Well Weve got a great site, or so I feel that way with tons of prints. Well its a BP site and has over 1000 BP's. But where always looking for more so what I'm requesting is any prints you have from your models youve built, I always give credit to who ever submits them. So if you have any prints laying around from things like your Tamiya models and a scanner feel free to add them to our blueprint forum. If you do decide to go for it you'll have to register to enter. Not to be picky but only thing we dont do is take from other blueprint sites such as Onnovanbraam, suurland, etc.
Well thanks for your time, hope this doesnt just sink to the bottom without a reply :(
Heres the site http://smcars.nd4spdworld.com/forum/index.php
[EDIT] If the topic comes off as I'm spamming advertisement for the site I'm sorry but I was trying to come up with a subject at the last second, I hate that I'm being burned here when I'm just trying to help other people model [EDIT]

It's not half bad, but I didn't really find any actual blueprints with measurements, etc. Frankly it seems like spam since you require users to register to view them.

Is this site for instruction sheets? Seems kind of lame to me.

Well I dont see how requiring registry can be called spam I mean hey we hunt most of the prints down and give a place for people to find what they want. Atleast we should get something back and be able to have some kind of since that people goto the site. Also lol blueprint sites hardly ever have any blueprints in the since when you think of a house BP with measurements, except blueprint69 site and they are basically usless since there so small. I mean I take it your not into blueprints thats fine, I guess you would feel you were cheated to register just to view something your not into.

Well not instruction sheets, you see people use these sheets to model 3d models. Not real models and people find car kit models are the most usefull, especially Tamiya kits people like those a lot. People model cars for games, and also just to render. Here are some pretty high up example of what people do when they have blueprints to cars they really enjoy.

No felas, their site is a blueprint site, forums otherwords, they post prints in there. People come, select what they want, and model it in 3d like i do, using these prints. Its connected to couple communities like NFS and Racer.

I never came here to advertise, I could care less about advertising for the site, I told you before hand I came to request instuction sheets if you have any, I Hope you dont hate me for that I'm just trying to help other people make there models. Just as most of you have a passion for making models, others have passion for 3d model building.

thanks guys who see where I'm coming from, well the veilside prints I found my self, but those prints are not the best things in the world some have some perspective in them. I guess it wont hurt to say where I got them, its a bit complicated but they come from some patents I found.

You can buy kits, and they come with decal application guide.
As for the Japanese cars, almost all dealer brochure have at least top and side drawings. Enthusiasts usually have them.

They just don't get to start with "kits," they all start from scratch. Like carving a model car out of soap or something. At the very least they need the blueprints for some kind of guide.
It's a shame you guys don't appreciate it more. It's a facinating meld of our traditional car modeling and the graphic manipulation realm. Besides, with rapid-prototyping machines, their models can be just as tangible as ours...

Hello,
I'm Jille Berends, and I'm a co-admin on the SMCARS blueprint site. I used to be the owner of world's largest automotive blueprint-source on the net, with about 800 different prints. A few months ago, my hosting got lost, and I decided to merge my print-collection with SMcars. The 3d-modelling community was ultra-happy to see this.
As we all know, good and useful reference images of cars are hard to get. Icekid, my friend and collegue, posted this here, not as an advertisement, but as a GIFT or HINT to all of the modellers. So don't bitch against him. He's only trying to help, and that's what the blueprint site has been set up for in the first place: helping modellers by sharing prints.
Registration there is needed, because of "blueprint-stealing" we had in the past. People claimed on other sites they found prints that weren't found by them. Registration is also turned on, because of search-engine indexing (now, we dont get a search-engine hit on each print/topic) and bandwidth-limiting. No banners in your email, no flashing pop-up stuff, no monthly-fees, no creditcard payments or whatever.
Also... what is the definition of "spam"? Spam is every single bit of useless-information. Well, I can tell you for sure that this is no useless info and Icekid's topic should be respected. That's board-rule number one here as well, if I'm correct.
So next time you want to accuse someone of spam or advertising, think twice.
So just visit the site, and if you have a print (or more) we dont have in our database, just post it in the holding-area there.
Regards,
Jille Berends

I usualy buy kits, and take blueprints from the manual. I build the kit and build the same kit in 3d, just like happend with my skyline. Here is an example ;)

Thanks Jille, and flyonthewall glad your pleased with the site, umm what kind of veilside kit where you looking for, I might be able to find it, veilside is pretty good about patenting things.
Vyacheslav: wow your good on both sides of the world, what program do you use, I need to learn more programs I just use a gaming modeler ( zmodeler). But thats a cool insight getting to have the real car in your hands and building one in 3d, have you done that other times before? Id love to see some of the other comparisons to the real car.
Ive actually bought prints (in a way) no tamiya because most people dont sale those alone, but some hot car folder type images. About real time modeling I think it woudl be a cool hobby, bit expensive, but I guess it gets addicting to make a car look real like that, thats the only downside to 3d modeling cant hold it in your hands, but I guess 3d modeling can be expensive (3dsmax program price and others, unless you get warez)

Wow lot more 3d modelers than I thought here hehe, thats great. OPM I knew of you (duh) hehe nice to see another familiar face.
Dr. AK : hehe thats atually very good, how long have you been working on it. Ive got a lot of 3d models that Ive done, but not released, after seeing all this I might try and take up real time modeling, just the cars I want to do in 3d.
SirWelshy : That would be great, I'd be more than happy to put the prints up. You can either sign up at SMC and post them in holding area or post them on your own server and I can get them and upload them. Either way I'm thrilled.

Very well done, always like looking at renders, do you make the motor and things that the model has or just exterior and interior. Well I must say that looks great, why not post some of those in the SMCars Rendering forum, its the very last forum.
Back to topic again I'm always looking for new prints, Ive got a request for one in particular a F40 we have one but its low res and theres a person who is really good at modeling in need of one.

Once I saw IceKid's name I knew something in here had to be about 3D Modeling. I've skimmed this thread and checked out SMCars. How has this been going? Have many members who build actual models here scan some pics of thier cars to use as Blueprints? When I saw this section of the site, I knew there was some great potential to help 3D modelers. Many blueprints you find are at slight angles making it hard for the virgin 3D modeler.
IceKid, while searching your site, I could not find a database for Blueprints. I saw the Blueprint Source thread. Lack of space? Or did I not search hard enough? The site MTMG is hosted on (karf) still has space. Phin cleaned it up. I would be glad to try and host an AF Blueprint database. At any rate, I also encourage the model builders here to offer up scans (Front, Back, Top, and Side) of thier vehicles for 3D modelers. I know there would be nothing in it for you, but a great help to modelers. At any rate, if I sound retarded, I appologize.
Edit: My bad. I found your database. Forgot to register.
