RWD SR20DET was used in Nissan 180SX and Silvia in Japan, whereas FWD SR20DET was used in Nissan Bluebird SSS and Pulsar GTi-R (although the Pulsar GTi-R is an AWD car, the FWD version of the engine is used). the FWD engines are obviousley horizontally opposed in the engine bay, whereas the RWD ones are vertically opposed. i'm not 100% sure as to whether the drivetrains are interchangeable...but i highly doubt it.

you can't use the fwd sr in the 240. why would you want to do that anyways when you can just as easily get the rwd sr20. I believe that nippon might have been reffering to the KA and the SR tranny's being the same. You can use the KA tranny on the SR but you will need to source an SR bellhousing from somewhere to make it work

that post confused the hell out of me. what car are you planning to put it in? in a rear engine set up...it would be possible to use the FWD SR and hook it up to the rear wheels, correct? is that the point you were trying to make, because i really couldn't make sense of your post...hehe. the RWD engine would still need to be vertically opposed, which wouldn't quite work in an MR car.
there was a british tuner car company that took a Tommikaira ZZ roadster body and stuck an SR in it. i'll take a look through my magazine stack to find the article.

Yea I was asking which would be better to use on such a set up hehe kinda confused myself too, but from I've gathered I'm taking it that the front clip from an GTI or Blue Bird will be ideal for what I'm wanting to do, I know how to work on engines a lil bit but don't know jack about drive lines/transmissions
