Anyone know how to

I want to swap out the hood pin for a gas shock,... does anyone know how to, or has someone else done this before????
(I'm talking about the piece that holds up your hood when its popped)...
let me know, instructions and all....

I know they make a little kit for A2 Jetta's and Golfs...it'd work for a civic. Or you could probably take one off a CRX's hatch and just be sure to get the two little nub things that each end of the strut snaps on to, then just attach one end to the under side (support, don't just drill through your hood) of the hood and there are 2 options for the other end. 1 is to mount it along where the top fender bolts are in a position where it lays flat, this way requires more lift by you before the strut takes over. 2 you can mount it to the inside of the engine compartment by the fender (requires less lifting by you, but hard to find a good spot). Hopefully that helps a little, I'll try and find the link for the jetta kit.
