Y1 transmission

Hey guys,

I am currently working on a crx-lsvtec. And I just bought a PR3 ecu yesterday and i got a Y1 tranny today. I know this kid and drove his car from which he pulled the motor from. Well, the transmission would grind 2nd gear when you'd put it in and 4th gear would grind when you'd put it in only in the cold. I was wondering if it was the syncros I should replace, is it just thick fluid, or should I replace the actual gear also?
