Dells and the Windows CD

Hi,

I have a friend with a Dell. They are nice computers and they work good and they can be configured. He paided like $2300(Cdn) for this thing. He got into trouble, never really found out what he did because he's a newbie, anyway I have nothing on the C: drive. Strange thing is that he paided for windows but Dell didn't or doesn't give the disk. ?????? How are you to maintain your computer without the disk. ???? I looked at the site and only corporate computers have the option to have the disk shipped with the disk. WTF didn't he pay for a product that comes with a disk everywhere else? Anyway I ended up putting my copy of windowsxp pro on his machine without problems. Dell wouldn't help.

Anyone here have a similar issue or is this a unquie thing. Anything I can do. IBM machines do that to. Why?

The simple answer is send the machine back for a full refund. Then get another one if he really wants it.

They ALL will come with a system restore CD. While it is not the full version of windows, but rather some bloated copy of Dell's system. You would need to use that.
