Custom Skyline GT-R R32

Here are some pics of my custom R32.
This is my first attempt in doing any modifications, only putty was used.
It was actually supposed to be a Mine's R32 but I screwed up with the windows so i decided to do some custom work to it. Therefore there is not windows on it.
The mods are:
1)cut off the top
2)bigger exhaust
3)hood vent, side mirrors, front and rear bumpers and side skirts
Sprayed with tamiya ts-43 racing green.
Any comments are welcome. :)

Did you try to model a punk-ass New York Skyline? If so, then DAMN that looks super-realistic! If not, well, can't help you there... :p

I like it. :) I would just suggest to do a little bit more preparation work (sanding and smoothing) before you paint but I like what you did with it. I like to see a great effort and that's what you've done! You should be proud!:grey:

Fair do's for trying. You just need to develop your skills now, tone it down a little for a start and try not to jump in at the deep end. You need to work on keeping things in scale and proportion, use loads of mags as reference and try and replicate something from them.

You have actually acheived a half decent paint job on this, perhaps try to develop those skills before the more adventurous projects.:)

well...i always believe and tell people that in modeling...a good foundation is important and there are many stages to it...1st thing is to master the art of paint or spray job...it takes a long time...maybe a few years...after that you can do some research or homework on procedures to modification, puttying etc... a lot of patience is needed...honestly speaking...i think this R32 looks like it is made of candle wax...no hard feelings...:)

Why New York?? You got problem with NY!!

Back to the thread:
That looks alright.
Just spend more time on sanding and smoothing.
My 400R was my first mod car too.

we aren't being dicks. he asked for opinions and comments, so that's what he's going to get. i'm not going to lie to him about it just to make him feel good. modelling is all about trial and error, so now for his next model he can better develop his skills. we never once treated him like shit, so i think YOU need to lighten up.

hey, guys don't worry. I'm fine with the negative feedbacks. As I had said, it was supposed to be a Mine's R32 *(I was doing the kit about 4 months back.) After screwing up with the windows, that was why I started trying to do some mods.

01-30-2003, 07:24 PM
Also there was someone saying that I am a riceboy? Besides the top being cut-off, I don't find anything wrong with the car.

clatescivicr
01-30-2003, 07:37 PM
I'm not sure how much money you have or how easily you can get that paint again, but honestly all you really need to do is sand it a lot smoother and the driver side sideskirt needs to be molded more near the top. I think its ok for a first try, but I think a good wetsand job on it would do it wonders!!!

Hopefully this helps, I would wet sand it down make sure everything is smooth and then primer it(not sure if you did the first time and look for any problems where it looks strange. If it does then apply putty or sand it down whichever is needed and then primer it again and see if it needs more touch up.

*I'm really suprised with the bad comments and then very few even try to help him improve it. I thought we were here to learn.... Its ok to give negative comments, but with all of the elitist here I thought they would tell him how he could improve it.*

Njh, if you spend more time, this kit would be very, VERY nice, It was rushed that's why it was'nt too great (no offence). If you spend more time on the car, it'll come out great, probably even better thansome of the cars here, definatly better than MY cars ;) Just take it easy next time :)

@njh: The idea of this model is great, improve your sanding and smoothing and you could build very nice bodykits. BTW: I love the decals!

Keep it the way it is right now.
I've got stuf here that's even worse.
But if you yust put it away like that and start building a new one, you can see what you have done wrong and improve the next one. At least you trying something that i dont even dare to do to a model.
Good luck with the next one.

All the little decals like Kenwood and No Fear and etc. seem totally irrelevant to what you said is supposed to be a MINE's R32. Hence, riceboy.

word.

NO FEAR is not something you associate with Skylines.

I said that it was aupposed to be a Mine's R32, because the kit i bought was a Fujimi Mine's R32. And also what is that that makes you say riceboy? The decals? The exhaust?
I feel that having the decals are to make the car look nice to each one's liking. Aren't some performance exhaust also big like that?

i think what he's saying is the fact that the tip of the exhaust is "wrinkled" around the edges makes it look a bit weird. what did you make it out of? i agree that a No Fear decal looks out of place on a Skyline (i hate No Fear decals with a passion), but it's your car and your decision so i'm not going to criticize. also, i don't know if anyone noticed this, but i love the decal on the side. "remember my name because you'll be screaming it later". :hehehe:

i give major credit to njh, this is one of the best, first try putty jobs ive seen! i think the exhausts were made out of straws, and njh, i can teach u how to make them look more realistic if u want... well anyways, hats off to you, cause my first putty job, is now..... garbage! soo keep up the good work!

njh
02-01-2003, 10:25 PM
Ya, the exhaust is made using straw.
There is also another decal on the other side saying "drive it like it is stolen!"

bah humbug
02-01-2003, 10:52 PM
:hehe: It looks like a street racing meltdown !!! It really looks :flamer: .

Don't think I'm a buthead but I'm just stating a fact. Even the exhaust tip looks melted.

But really it would have been much better if you spent a little more time on it. If you fixed up some parts a little bit more it would have been much better.

If I were you I would find someone to fix it up for you. Just a suggestion.

(coughs) :D
