Can anyone tell me where I can purchase a Chilton , or another good company, service manual for a 1999 Ford Explorer? I recently bought the Ford manual, but it wasn't up to par, the explanations were very vague and not informative. Thanks a lot :)

Ford Manual not up to Par??
Forgive me please, but I use these manuals everyday and they are FAR better than a Chilton manual..
What kind of information do you need? , because there are several different manuals for each Ford make and model.

The books that I got online are workshop manuels. They do list many things but I am specifically looking for trouble shooting guides for an idle problem I am having at cold temperatures and the like. Is there a different type of manuel other than a workshop manuel? The ones I have for a BMW have real pictures not just drawings and I paid the same price for both sets.

Joe Leahy and Larry Owens published a series of books called "How to keep your ____ alive" This is the complete idiots guide to everything. Try looking for this book for your vehicle. They're very descriptive and give step by step instructions.
