Me!!! :p

hehe. I think it's a bit sad to miss out the older players, as Hendrix will always be something absolutely incredible, but anyway...

Larry Carlton, first of all, is a god (just don't play his music for Spec2)
Van Halen. His imitators by and large sucked, but Eddie was way cool.
Satch
Little Stevie Vai
John Petrucci
Brian May - old but still going - and a major influence for me
Carlos Santana - ditto
Jeff Beck - possibly the most way-out guitar player ever

Prolly some more I can't think of right now.

I just thought I'd make a change, so I wanted to see what people thought of the "modern" players. As I said Hendrix was a god :)

By modern I guess we mean shredders of the post Van Halen Era?

Apart from previously mentioned Eddie himself, Satch, Vai and the awesome Mr Petrucci some other guys that make up my CD collection are:

Tony MacAlpine
Greg Howe
Ritchie Kotzen
Eric Johnson (more old school)
Andy Timmons
Marty Friedman
Jason Becker
Jeff Kollman
Joe Stump
Mattias IA Eklundh
Michael Harris
Neil Zaza
Chris Degamo
Rob Johnson
Paul Gilbert
Mike Keneally
Vinnie Moore
Yngwie Malmsteen
Michael Lee Firkins
Ron Thal
Plus guitarists from Dali's Delemma, Empty Tremor, Ice Age, Ark/Conception, Arena, Eldritch, Andromeda, Event, Opeth, Tad Morose, Threshold and Madsword, whoever they are!

How about jazzers like Alan Holdsworth and Frank Gambale and finally the guy who licks them all..... Steve Morse!

Forgot: Eric Johnson

And thank you RallyRaider, for reminding me about Steve Morse. I must go get myself some. :D He is awesome.

Yngwie is kind of like Van Halen in one respect: his imitators sucked, but he was actually good. Not as good as Eddie, but he was actually pretty cool. Specially on Rising Force - love Black Star off that album
