BTW, I bought my Honda for about 9grand, and my friend's shop has offered to do a custom turbo for about a grand...with everything I've put in my car, I'd be hanging with a GTP for about 11 grand, a LOT cheaper than buying a GTP, plus better gas mileage still, and cheaper insurance.
hybrid, how much did you and dblovrheadcamron spend on your cars?
EDIT: Not mad because I drive a Honda in particular, but because for enthusiasts, these guys sure are narrow-minded. Also, WHY do people hate so much:mad:?

What's funny is, I usually end up wearing white shirt when I work on my car. Even though I'm filthy from my hands to my elbows, my shirt usually stays white, except for a smudge occassionally. Maybe because I have less engine to dive into? :p

What a bunch of ignorant asses, I think there was one person that posted in there that wasn’t; I'll bet it was you.
Anyhow; I think he got ripped off for what he bought. I am only looking at $10,000 at the absolute most for the GTC project, which includes the car and having it shipped over here. That will be after all mods and restoration. I don't see how he spent $15K. I think that hybrid spent in the mid $4K to get his car where it is.

With that kind of money I could do:
RB26DETT swap+
turbos
intercooler
exhaust
chip
intakes
and, misc. electronics!
That would be a kinda fast car I think?:bloated:

For my sol, I'm gonna say around 12 grand (factoring everything in) including the car. As for the GSR I'll have to ask dohc, I'm not exactly shure how much total. I could throw out a number but I better double check first. Oh yea thanks for the heads up. They are rather opinionated, I hope they don't mind me posting my opinion. :)

woooo modified family cars........ yay
When they come up against the new Merc S55 AMG they won't be so happy :D
i considered modifying a family car once cuz i had one and i concluded that A) its front wheel drive - no offense but the car is too long for front wheel drive etc B) its rolls like crazy in turns and is heavy. C) The turbo charged engine was wasted cuz you couldn't utilise the power in a turn and it still wasn't powerful enough to beat a lightly modified Si.
Couple this together and the car is useless for drifting :D

Talking about the sig pic? I suppose the server is messing up it'll be back up eventually.
Actually I take the part back about being hypocritcal. I'm using my truck for what its worth, as a show vehicle. Which includes a few minor upgrades for a bit more power.

Needless to say, we ended up telling them all my car was stock, and the war ensued. Eventually a guy was supposed to meet up with me to run at our track with his "13 sec" GTP with JUST pulley upgrade. He never showed. :)

I find this very ironic, GP guys making fun of so called "ricers", though in this case he may be an import enthusiast (we don't know this guy other than their biased opinions). People driving cars that are built for family first, and performance second, for the most part have no room to make fun of anything.
I know a guy in St. Louis that had his GTP carjacked at gunpoint this past weekend (he even put dubs on it last week). Had to suck hardcore, came out from a restaurant to the thieves breaking in, when they pulled out a gun, took his wallet and his gf's purse, and drove of with it all.
In summary, those guys are ignorant fucktards, no use trying to explain things to them...

I really dont like bashing other honda drivers, but at this point how can you blow 11g's on a honda and it still be slow. You give me and hybrid 11g's and we could build you a fast ass honda for that price. I have to say when all said and done Ill have roughtly 19 g's in my CRX but thats A LOT of work. There wont be a stock part to the car or motor, all impoted from Japan. There fore wiht just 11 g's you should be able to build a damn fast car, seeing that Hondas are made to be able to be builst, strong and fast for small prices. Basically you got screwed that you paid that price and still have a slow car.

I didn't have 11G's in cash to build a car with. I financed my late model Honda Civic for approximately $9,000. With all the additions I have put in my car, plus my buddie's shop's custom turbo, I would've spent about 11 thousand on my car to have it at least keep up with a GTP, which a 1997 like mine, still costs around 12 to 13 thousand stock, which leaves me spending a little less than the GTP owner and STILL have a car with better gas mileage, cheaper insurance AND at least keeps up with a stock GTP which cost more.
If I actually HAD eleven, even 5 thousand dollars in cash to spend outright, I'd be challenging those GTP guys left and right.

Ohh my bad man I misunderstood you there. Yea the way to go is to just save your money. It doesnt take a lot ot make a Honda fast. And it isnt always all about buying the best parts on the market, but rather getting the parts the will do just the same as any other part. And you have to get all parts that are going to work together. I say you sell your Honda and start over. Build on and go out smoking the GTP's

Ironically, I got into a little mini-race this weekend with a Gran Prix GT (I wouldn't have even tried if it was a GTP:rolleyes: ).
Anywho, I'm just putting along on 67th Ave heading north from Glendale, when I see this silver Gran Prix fly by me to cut off another car at high-speed (I think they should re-name the car Gran Prick). Being the opportunist that I am, as soon as the car that was in front of me turned and, everything was clear, I stayed behind the Prick itself, who, at this time, had slowed down. Apparently, he was just trying to show up the Honda who cruising along at 50 in fifth gear:rolleyes:. I looked in his mirrors from behind and saw that it was some young-ish punk with his GF. Anyhow, I stayed behind him hoping that he would speed so I could too (it's called jackrabbiting..at least with people I know). Anyhow, everything cleared up in front of us, and he takes off, and I am right there right behind him. I switch lanes and somewhat gain on him. I am at his right rear quarter-panel at this point and it holds until about 90, when he had to slow down because there was a car in his lane. Just to show him I wasn't a ricer (I have ABSOLUTELY no stickers on my car, not even a license plate holder), I slowed down...and even let him in front of me. There was a turn coming up, and great!, it was my turn too...
of course, he takes the turn and guns it, seeing that I'm turning also right behind him, being that I'm prepared this time, I took full advantage of the fact that I have way too much positive camber front and back, and took the turn really fast and gunned it from second. I jumped about half a car in front of him, and it stayed that way until this time I had to slow down for a car in my lane. I know there are a lot of Civics that can beat a stock Prick GT in my town, but if you consider MY Civic, it was a pretty cool non-win. Consider my engine...stock-internalled, SOHC non-VTEC...rated at 108HP stock. My car supposedly runs 17.2's stock, while the Prick GT runs flat 16's to high 15's. Also, I've spent Less than 400 dollars to modify my engine so far. The whole exhaust/resonator system is a custom jobbie from my friend's shop.
Anyway, I'm not hating on GP's like their owners apparently hate on Hondas. I am however, hating on their owners that I have met/observed so far. They act like like their cars are SO superior. But then again, they're supposed to be...they are in a higher class of vehicles. The Pontiacs that are supposed to be in the Civic's class are the Sunbirds...and we all know how good those cars are:rolleyes:.
