2001 MDX

Another winning production vehicle from Honda's Acura division. I am very impressed with the performance of the MDX, especially when you take into account how large it is. Much more space in the rear (not to mention thrid row seating, that intuitively and without fuss folds down into the floor).

I especially like the Honda engineering behind its new differential-less all-wheel drive system. This system provides exceptional traction, even on loose dirt on an incline. And the lack of a proper differential yields significant weight savings. I just hope that Honda doesn't decide to stop with it here, and begins plans to implement this system into some of its cars!

That is a major complaint I have about Hondas, their traction problems. I suppose these inherent problems in Hondas help keep the limited-slip differential industry in business, but it would be nice if Honda could devise an in-house, effective means for combatting poor these traction issues. And this new AWD system might just be the answer.

Well, it did also win the MT SUV shoot-out. It's got wonderful looks to complement the performance.

I've heard alot of good stuff about this vehicle..but for some reason i just don't like the exterior looks of the vehicle...front kinda looks like a pontiac aztec...but just my .02

Well i guess it'll grow on me...hehe

I like the MDX. The only item I see as a downfall is the absence of HID headlights. I hope they will add them in the future.

Trying to get my mom to trade her 98 4x4 Limited 4Runner for one of these pups. Just way more options for the money.

My wife and I have had an MDX for about 6 weeks. What's not to like? Great handling, great ride, KILLER engine sound when romping on the go pedal, excellent standard stereo system, lots of room front and back (obviously wider inside and out than our '93 Explorer, and much better rear legroom), build quality right up there with the best of them, etc., etc. I could wish for a tad more footroom while driving, and I hope that future models will drop the push/push parking brake (a'la LeSabre) in favor of a real pull-up handle.

If you're thinking about getting one, GO FOR IT!

MDX is a great car. But there is still couple flaws on that car. Road noise during high speed cruising still needs improvement. The towing ability needs to be improved through more torque. Otherwise Acura have a worthy competitor to the allmighty BMW X5 4.4i

I understand that one of the few changes for '02 is that the MDX will be quieter; that will be nice for road (tire) noise, but I hope they keep the engine sound! It's a great cruiser.

I drove a 2002 MDX and IMO its the best SUV I've ever driven. BTW, I heard through the Honda grapevine that the remodeled 2003 Accord will have AWD and a 6-speed manual. Anyone else hear this?

The AWD is Euro and Japan only though since they use the 2.0L i-VTEC engine. Americans are getting the 2.4L i-VTEC found on CR-V but with almost 170hp.

Its a pretty nice unit and should hold up quite well unless someone acually tries to take it off road.
