Is the accords h23 v-tech able to take mild (5-7 psi) boost reliably?

HUH? Did you put the H23 in the Accord?

Sorry I got some bad info from some idiot online its a f23a1 engine block SOHC VTEC. I read that somebody boosted his Accord to 400hp on stock internals (250hp on street gas) but he did it in a non-VTEC 2.2L Would the VTEC interfear with the boost and can the engine take the boost if I upgrade the cooling system?

400hp sounds like a lot for that motor. 250 sounds a bit more reasonable, if tuned well. the vtec will not affect the motors ability to take boost, just watch out for too much valve overlap. if you can find a set of cams that will decrease this you will be in business. most blocks can take a reasonable amount of boost, if taken care of and tuned well. this means making sure you get enough fuel and spark in there, and the timing is set correctly. upgrading the cooling system is not a bad idea either, along with including a FMIC with the setup to keep air temps low. 5-7 psi should not be too difficult, if time and effort are put into the setup.

the h23 (non-VTEC) will take 5-7 till the world looks level, not a problem. 400hp is totally in line for an H23 with a TC job, but not on stock internals and old rings, or at least not very long. In and of itself though, a well tuned H23 with I/H/E (and a few other things) should easily do 250

Yall were warning me about too much exaust overlap. I know that VTECs are known for their high RPM overlap, so would I have to get an aftermarket camshaft or could I just adjust my current one, and would that serously adversly affect the engine during non-boost RPMs.

how you deal with the valve overlap depends entirely on which motor you get. if you get the H22, then you can simply get some cam gears and dial it out on a dyno. if you go with the H23, then you will have to see if anyone has made cams that come ground that way. i dont know if they exist or not, just one of those things that would be nice if they did. the overlap wont kill your motor, its just another way to finish off the project and know that everything has been taken care of.
