Anyone ever go rally racing with a skyline? Just wondering.

Nope...not me! I think it's a bad idea..the car is bulky and heavy..not rally material at all.
I had seen a picture of a white R33 GTR taking part in a rally - I think it was a tarmac rally somewhere in the Oz - the car was stuck in the middle of 2 branches on a tree!  I think I had posted the pic somewhere in this forum a long time ago! Definitely not a good idea methink.

Yea, to heavy. But if you really wanted to be unique. I bet a stripped R32 GTR or GTS-4 would be pretty fun if you got it down to like 1,500lbs :D

That would be intresting.

I don't think skylines were ever meant to be wrc cars.

Rhys Millen drove a white R33 imported by Motorex in the Pike's Peak(Colorado) Hillclimb once. This was a few years back, before he started driving Evos.

Fyi, the same R33 was later painted yellow and used in The Fast and The Furious. The car was later taken back by Motorex and dubbed 'Big Bird.' The last I read, it runs mid-10s in the 1/4 mile.

I thought the Big Bird was a black R34 GTR? I could be wrong though...

But the yellow skyline in F&F was a R34. I mean that front end was definitevelly no a R33 one.

The One in F&F is an R33. I read an article on it a while back before the movie. WHen they were installing their NOS Fogger system.

And Blackbird is an R34 :finger:

TF&TF R33 and Big Bird are the same. That's why Big Bird is yellow.

Considering that I named that car I think I know a thing or two about it. Big Bird was an R33 . Its Big Bird - because "its big , its yellow , and everyone loves it " Just like the real Big Bird.

http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/features/0208scc_covercar/

First it was the HKS demo car. Then it was used for Pikes Peak 1999 . It set the record for showroom stock in 1999 . 12:13.47

Universal then used it for Fast and Furious . They painted it yellow.

After that we got it back . Put nitrous on it - and its best pass was 10.7 @ 137...

After that it was on the cover of Sport Compact Car magazine. Now its just sitting at MotoRex . No engine - no trans.

Blackbird was an R34

Had to edit this - I wrote it a little weird...

Neutrino,

J/K with you.

I was looking at your sig. Cross Drilled and slotted rotors, you might want to do some research.

Are KYBs the only struts you can get?

NO you got it wrong.

The Fast and Furious Skyline was an R33 .

The yellow Skyline in the first Fast and Furious movie was an R33.

Now in the 2nd movie - 2 Fast 2 Furious- there is an R34 . The R34 in that movie is Silver - but it used to be black - and it used to be the Blackbird.

So got that yet ?

First movie = R33
2nd movie = R34.

ok ok .... it was a R33 is not the end of the world. I guess i missundesrtood your post.

Also skyline USA there are quite a few cars out there with cross drilled and slotted brakes. There is a performance shop near me that recomended them. They have the same thing on their drag racing car a 9 sec dx. And they say it stops quite good.

Also about the kyb's i'm not sure about them i heard both good and bad. As an alternative i'm considering koni's and billstein.
So give me some credit in doing my research. You can see i wrote future mods and i'm going trough it slowly and its basically a rough draft.

But anyway if you have some advice about what components i'm open to sugestions. I don't like to be close minded when there is always somenthing new to learn. So if you know anything about the brakes and shocks that i don't know please feel free to tell i'll apreciate that.

Don't buy KYB. Koni or Bilstiens are much better.

The mass of the rotor is what stops your car, think of it as a heat sink, any time you take material away it reduces its mass, therefore making it a less effective heat sink. If you what to listen to a performance shop that is in the business of selling items, then listen to them.

Plus, cross drilled rotors have a bad tendency to crack.

Don't take my word for it, the best place you can read up on this stuff is www.corner-carvers.com Go there and do some reading, it will help you make a better decision, Cool:)
