Hi,

This is a call for help from all you hardcore rally modelling fans.

I need help...modelling help. I want to make a WRC Escort from the 1994 1000 Lakes Rally. Does anyone have an image of the rally door plates for this event, so I can make some decals from it??

Thanx in advance.

Looks like a simple black outline panel with the logo at the top of this page.

Cool project. Do you have references for the bonnet plate? I'm at work at the moment, but will see what I can dredge up at home tonight.

Making your own decals, how are you doing that - ALPS?

Cheers Steve, that does help. Anymore on the bonnet plates??

RallyRaider, I have tried out making my own decals, but I am gonna try printing it at home on my PC, using that decal paper, then applying some Microscale decal film to protect it. I'll let you know how I get on.

Hey Smokey! :o

Here are some scans from a Museum Collection decal sheet for Didier Auriol's 1994 Celica. Judging by the photos I've seen they look reasonably accurate, only fault is that there is a bit too much 'microscopic' writing under the '1000 Lakes Rally'. Looking at pictures in '94 Rallycourse I think it shoud just say 'finland' on an extended line fron the tail of the 'y' in Rally. But that is really nit-picking.

It may be an option for you to buy this sheet, I bought mine from Rainbow 10. I think they are of the 'high tec' variety that require a bit more care than regular decals.

Here is another picture that shows the correct lettering. Colour is wrong but the small 'finland' can be seen.

Cheers RallyRaider,

That is really useful, you really are the hardcore WRC fan! BTW, what was the product code for the Museum Collection decal sheet? I may be able to get it from HLJ or Grand Prix Models here in the UK.

The sheet is D053 although HLJ call it MCLDC-58, here is the link: http://www.hlj.com/cgi-perl/hljpage.cgi?MCLDC-58 Click on 'Museum Collection' at the top of the page to go to their website and see their other goodies, including a full scan of the Auriol '94 sheet. Both HLJ and Rainbow 10 seem to have them in stock at the moment. If you want it in a hurry go with R10, they ship quick, whereas HLJ can take forever to get things moving.

RallyRaider, where did you get the #8 rally palte? I think it's a wrong one.

I just take a close up shot from very old car magazine and the the logo should look like this:

The Number 8 Rally Plate is from the 1994 Rallycourse book, it is not off a car but just an illustration on the 1000 Lakes Rally stats page. I only posted it to show the small 'Finland' script.

As I said the colours are all wrong, also the '94 is in the wrong spot, which I failed to mention first time round. Both those things can be seen clearly in your shot. Just showing that the decals on the MC Auriol Celica sheet are not 100% correct.

Why is it that decal companies go off half cocked with the graphics for their sheets? How hard would it be to do that little bit extra research and get thing 100%? Not like the things are cheap.

Thanx guys,

Lau Bak, I am going to make that exact car (the Escort). I'm a bit of a Makinen fan, so I'm trying to build as many of the cars he has driven as possible.

Or Mr LauBak!

Hey LauBak, aren't you the fellow who was talking about producing some decal sheets a while back? How is it coming along? Going to do the Makinen Escort?

It was so late but they will be (hopefully) print after the Chinese New Year. Sometimes thing does not come as what you expected.

At this moment I am drawing the 94 Finland Escort. As you may know I am big T.M fan too!

I had also finished the Advan Altezza(red/black), 95 RAC EvoIII-T.Makinen(Petronas), 96 Rothmans EvoIII-Bunsie and 99 China rally Corolla. I really hope they can be product soon but everything depends on the first trial!
