Have you noticed that US newspapers and news broadcasts never seem to report anything that happens elsewhere in the world?

CNN and Fox have many programs that have news around the world. Must be the stations or newspapers you're reading.

I disagree with that statement, they are the first to report anything that affects US interests!

CNN do a great job.....of distorting the truth. Those thick enough not to see through their distortions are going to get what's coming to them.

Please don't use the words 'CNN' and 'truth' in the same sentence, there are some very impressionable people out there who may believe the words are related.

I don't see the problem. If they weren't telling the truth, and nothing but the truth so help them George W, how would they make their billions in profits each year? Surely they wouldn't bend to pressure from their advertisers. that would be immoral. I don't understand what you're getting at whatsoever.

feel free to use the words'immoral' and 'George W' in the same sentence at any time,Oz, the armchair generals from the boondocks need all the help that they can get when it comes to distinguishing right from wrong.

Just like China our media is controlled by the higher powers of the US either politically or economically, not as cut and dry and China but we don’t get all the info. If you want all the info listen to stuff like short band radio and read news sites like. www.moscowtimes.ru to get the full storys

I myself prefer C-SPAN, Fox News Channel, CNBC, MSNBC, and so on. CNN just doesnt do anything for me, and as you guys said, it is good at distorting the truth. But, so are a lot of the other news channels, just some do it more so than the others.

i know they show the BBC World Broadcast on some channel but that doesn't count cuz thats English
 did you know that Tony Blair has 50 advisors to help him do his job :bloated: and they aren't related to military or Government in a direct manner. IE Tony hired them to write his speeches :bloated:
has anyone seen 15minutes ? It's supposed to point out the dangers of Tabloid TV
does anyway else thing that American TV as a whole is just Tabloid or do you think the reality shows are taking over?

It's always good to watch news presentations from other countries, preferably those that are ideologically opposed to your own countries lifestyle. It is not until you hear the 'rhetoric, propaganda and misinformation' that is put out by other cultures that you seriously begin to question the integrity of what your own news providers tell you.
From watching US news programmes that air at bizarre night-time slots in this country,I have to agree that the US news media does seem to give a disproportionate amout of coverage to domestic events. But then commercially driven stations only play what the public is prepared to watch.Quality journalism rarely makes it onto television thesedays.:(

thus we get tabloid and reality TV where everything is complete utter nonsense and has no bearing on any real crisis.

I'm not sure where they're based.
Tell me more about this FT...
www.whatreallyhappened.com
This will be immediately be dismissed as anti-semitic, since they largely discuss Israel, and their relationship with the United States...
Lot's of good stuff on Iraq, however.

FT = Financial Times
they have to give a non opinionated story because people use it to do business with.
I mean stocks go up and down depending on whats happening with the news today so they need something that covers stories truthfully and they can't BS because they'll get sued and it won't help any. Some stories will effect other stocks more than others and this also applies to bonds and Currency.
its not free press
its more like Capitalist Press if you want to look at it that way and i usually can't find anything wrong with it. IE graphs with BS charts (daily Mail) or BS stock advice (sunday mirror - incidently they got sued).
They usually go a bit more indepth with facts too.
