Well after completion of the Calsonic R32 GT-R I have been given another kit to build for the Panda. THis one is the R32 HKS GT-R or the decal nightmare as I like to call it.

been on hold for a while as I searched for decent interior pics as the instructions don't detail the interior well at all.

I now have a better idea of what colours to use so will resume the build ASAP

still trying to take a decent photo of the engine.

The shiny silver bits are bare metal foil and the oil filler cap is BMF with clear blue paint over the top. Small things but they make a diference

You need double time on the decals. I built once, but is really fun.:D

tazdev
04-05-2003, 09:48 PM
applied the first few decals today, they are fairly fiddly but the decal is of a suitable thickness to make them reasonably easy to apply. Due to the number of decals to apply I shall be limiting myself to applying only 2 - 3 of the decals per day so as not to disturb the others.

here is decal addition stage #1

wow, it came out cool. Just curious, what are those 2 little dips in the trunk? My unbuilt castrol skyline has them too. Does it have something to do with the gas tank?

yup you got it in 1. Race fillers for the boot mounted fuel cell. one is the fuel inlet the other is the fuel overflow to ensure the cell gets fully filled.

more progress pics.

unlike the decals around the sides and on the roof the decals at the back need to curve around the corner and over the bumper. This is very fiddly but so far so good.

Applying decals such as these isnt so bad as what people think.
Yes it can be a daunting task but really U need lotsa patience, some good timing with placing it, lotsa perserverence and the right tools such as microsol or Gunze mark softener.

You guys should give it a try and overcome it.
I know all of you can do it, just a matter if you wanted to.
It took me 1 whole day to finish with my team teile and its taking tazdav, about the same time.

Cant rush these things and it will turn out well.

Anyways, its looking very good from here tazdev, great decal application skills ;)

I have built this kit in the past, the only real problem is that the decals are a little thick they will eventually lay down with setting solution and from what I can remember they all line up as they should. You will need a couple of coats of clear to finish in order to blend in the decal edges. Good luck and post some pics when done :)

tazdev
04-10-2003, 10:54 PM
ALL decals are now on :D

all there is to do is attach the wing mirrors and maybe clearcoat the whole thing.

Great work!

Just curious, this isn't a drag car right? I've seen the R33 and 180sx by HKS as serious drag cars.

tazdev
04-11-2003, 02:35 PM
nah the R32 GT-R was a Group A circuit car.

it was before the Japanese went heavily into drag racing and well before the drifting phenomonon (spelling?)
